Saw it. Enjoyed it, but was confused for the first 30 minutes or so. As much as I liked the rest, it’s too long to be worth a second look.
The first 30 minutes are very confusing. You really should read the website afterwards because it explains the story better.
A lot of parts were filled in and I said to myself, “So, it was a magical rabbit they ate?”
The sequence of the naked Atanarjuat running across the ice field to escape his attackers is one of the most stunning scenes ever filmed in my opinion.
A good flick as these art-house things go. Not seen its like, for sure. Don’t remember the magic rabbit, guess parts of the plots were too subtle for me.
It was the part toward the end where Antanarjuat decides to head back to Igloolik. The elder man is hopping around the rock with the rabbit’s paws. Then the bad guy makes an amazing catch of a rabbit with his bear hands and eats it. Antanarjuat is supposed to be the rabit I believe.
