Anyone seen "Hedwig and the Angry Inch"?

I just saw the movie this past weekend and I can’t wait to see it again. It has gone on the “Gotta Buy DVD” list along with Moulin Rouge. John Cameron Mitchell has made the most amazing debut since Orson Welles and Citizen Kane, since, like Welles, Mitchell wrote, directed, and starred in Hedwig. The music totally rocks and is insanely hummable, with Bob Mould of Husker Du and Sugar playing lead guitar.

In addition to being a wildly entertaining rock musical, the movie also deals with profound issues of gender, identity, and self-acceptance.

Go see Hedwig and the Angry Inch!

Bob Mould? Really? Cool.

But don’t taunt me. “Hedwig” sounded interesting ever since I read a review of the play but there is no fucking way it’s ever going to play it this miserable backwater I live in. (and if I make it to the Big City in the next couple of weeks I have to see “Ghost World” first, Dan Clowes AND the guy who directed “Crumb”!)

Honestly, I’ve been dying to see “Hedwig”, “Ghost World”, “Sexy Beast”, but where I live I have to choose between “Rush Hour II” and “Legally Blonde” (I stay home).

I’ve been wanting to see this, yay!

It’s playing at the Landmark Century on Clark in Chicago, if anyone’s wondering, and the preview is a hoot.

bete, I saw Legally Blonde on Saturday night and it was, surprisingly, pretty funny. If you’re looking for a good escape and not good cinema, it’s worth it. Cute, funny, eye candy. I liked it and it was pretty amusing.

Hmmm…maybe when I was trying to refer to Hollywood crap I don’t want to see I should have said “Princess Diaries”. Or “Americas Sweetheart”.

I mean I really liked her in “Election”.

Still, my point is so many good movies- even nationally released ones- don’t play anywhere near me, dammitt.

I saw the play but I was not aware the movie was out yet. I don’t think it’s playing in my neck of the woods yet, but hopefully it will. I already have the soundtrack (which is great).

I am going to be singing this all day.

I got my latest Amazon order yesterday with the Hedwig soundtrack [sup][sub](and also Mutter by Rammstein, but that’s another story)[/sub][/sup] and I absi-freaking-lutely love this CD. I need to see this movie, but I missed my one chance to see it one the big screen.

Stephen Trask, one of the people behind Hedwig was born not five minutes from where I sit now. They held the CT premiere at a local theater (that’s thea-ter as in huge, old performance venue not shoebox google-plex) last June, but I spaced it. Oh well, there’s always DVD.
