Anyone seen Steelers Super Bowl XL Ring?

And if so, could you provide a link? It’s been rumored the Rooney’s want to go simple, back to the days of the “ordinary” rings. Something that can actually be worn.

I’ve done the googling, and I can’t seem to find anything except someone’s idea. If this idea becomes the ring, I’ll be sick to my stomach.

I did find a cool page that had all 39 previous rings pictured (warning, it takes a while to load, pdf file).

Super Bowl Ring Pictures

I’d like to take a quick poll. IMHO, the rings have become gaudy baubles that are just horrible. No class.

The last ring that looks good is the Chicago Bears Super Bowl XX. Some up to XX are not to my liking either. The first 10 are great. The Raiders XI began the bigger is better philosophy, but the Cowboys XII ring is great. From Super Bowls XV to XIX, just wrong wrong wrong, but the Bears saved the day with a nice design for their XX ring. The next 19 years have been just awful, with my personal hatred going to the Ravens XXXV or the Bucs XXXVII. I don’t even consider the last 2 Patriot blings rings.

The Best? I love the Packers I, the Steelers XIII, Colts V, Cowboys VI, Chiefs V and Steelers X.

For me, simple = class = best

Which are your votes for best and worst?

I heard it will have a black stone and a bunch of little penalty flags around it.

Now THAT was funny!

I heard the Seahawks’ NFC champion rings HAD to be one of the big gaudy ones, for two reasons–they didn’t want any of the players to lose them when they get dropped, and they were worried about players choking.

I can’t click on PDF files-any other place to view them?

I’ve been dying to see what they look like. You can see some of the ones from past years at Jostens.

I like the one from Super Bowl XIII-the Steeler’s symbol in diamonds.

That’s the reason that one is my favorite too, Guin. A perfect design layout.

I’ll try to find another link. Like I said, it takes a while to load, but it’s worth it. If you have dial up, it will take around 10 minutes, I’d guess.

I have DSL, actually, but computer hates PDFs. Oh well, no big deal, they’ll surface eventually!

Here’s a link to another page. It has each SB listed, and you can see each ring, but only one at a time.

The good news is, you can see them.

The bad news is, no Steeler XL yet.

ENJOY

I don’t often laugh out loud at jokes I read on the computer, but I did at this one.

My favorites are numbers I, XVII, and XXV.

Hey, those are letters, not numbers!

Anyway, here’s a story with a description of the ring. No photos, though. The result doesn’t sound particularly simple to me, but who knows.

The Ring

Halfway between gaudy and understated. I guess it’s the way it is.

For the 5 time winner rings, though I guess it’s alright.

At least it’s a ring…

Take that, New England!

After a re-look, my main gripe (other than I didn’t get one) is that the Steeler logo is a bit off.

The word “Steelers” should be within the circle. Just like on the helmets. It doesn’t need to be hanging out of the circle like that.

Other than that, it’s alright.

It won’t crack my top 10 though.

Any other opinions?

To be honest, I think most of the rings are either boring or gaudy. The XL ring falls into the boring category. For some reason though, I like the Denver Broncos XXXIII ring.

I dunno why?

You don’t have to have a reason. It’s cool to just like it for whatever reason.

I think the Packers I ring is the best. The Colts V ring would have been my favorite if it weren’t for the big diamond in the middle of the horseshoe. Plus, I think they could have done something a little nicer with the saffires (I’m guessing) in the horseshoe itself. Nitpicking.

I, obviously, am a Steeler fan. However, I think the Cowboys fifth superbowl victory ring is very classy. Now I hate the Cowboys, and they beat the Steelers to get this win, but it’s a nice clean ring.

SF’s 5th ring is just awful.

The Steelers ring could have been nicer if the logo was to scale. I really think the **Steelers ** in large offset print really takes away from the ring. Maybe I would have liked it more if that were the case. Maybe not.

Perhaps the bigger question for all of this is why in the hell do I care? But I do. I love designs, logos, emblems, uniforms. One of my strange passions.
