Anyone seen that Mastercard commercial with Kevin Bacon?

Obviously inspired by the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” game. The premise: Bacon is trying to buy something with a credit card, and the cashier needs some ID. So Bacon runs out and finds 5 people who have some connection, the last of which is a girl who dumped the cashier in high school. He finishes by saying “So we’re practically brothers.”

I thought this was the funniest reference to web culture I had seen recently. Has anyone else seen it? It’s been on for at least a week now.

Oh, it’s been on longer than that!

But you’re right. It is cute.

It was first show during the Super Bowl.

slight hijack…

I myself am five degrees removed from Kevin Bacon making anyone who knows me the requisite six degrees removed. So anyone who reads this…congrats!

1: ME…my highschool english teacher was…
2: MR SHIFFLET: who in Detroit’s high school system taught…
3: MADONNA: who was in Dick Tracy with…
4: AL PACINO: who was in Sleepers with…
5: KEVIN BACON

hijack over…
And yes I love that commercial too, the best Visa commercial in a while.

My Bacon index is 4.

My cousin Denis was in national tour of Fiddler on the Roof with Theodore Bikel, who was in Shadow Conspiracy with Steve Altes who was in Hollow Man with Kevin Bacon.

(He was also in Vegas Vacation with Chevy Chase, but his part got cut. :frowning: )

No Bacon Index stories, we all laughed at that commercial because none of us has ever been asked for ID on a check.

Well I’m only 3 degrees from Kevin Bacon

  1. My cousin barbara was set dresser on The movie Josh and Sam.
  2. Christopher Penn was in Josh and Sam
  3. Christopher Penn was also in Footloose with Kevin Bacon.

Do I get a prize

I’m two degrees:

I appeared in a rafting documentary with the girl who was…

Meryl Streep’s stunt double in The River Wild, with Kevin Bacon:)

Do I win?

Not so fast dinahmoe!

Frances Sternhagen narrated a documentary I wrote/produced/directed.

Frances Sternhagen was in Starting Over (1979) with Kevin Bacon.

That makes me two degrees, too.

I’m in love with Kevin Bacon.

That’s one degree away.

I wanna see it tooooo.

I’m three degrees from Kevin Bacon.

I sat on the lap of Erin Moran at a telethon when I was a child.

Erin Moran was in ‘Dear God’ with Jim Meskimen.

Jim Meskimen was in ‘Apollo 13’ with Kevin Bacon.

Oh. I was an extra in “The Johnsons” [Dutch horror-movie] with Monique van der Ven - she was in “Paint it Black”- so was Sally Kirkland- who was in “JFK”

*that makes it?? *

I had heard about the “six degrees” game, but I don’t go to many movies, so I really didn’t know what Bacon looked like. So, when they showed this commericial during the Super Bowl, I was confused, because if you don’t know the premise, its just a fairly bland plot where for some reason some guy is gathering up a bunch of people he knows. It was only a couple of days later, when people mentioned “the Kevin Bacon” ad, that I finally got it. Very clever.

I’ve got news for you, Max. You’re only four degrees from Kevin Bacon. You don’t count yourself as a degree. You to Mr. Shifflet is one, Mr. Shifflet to Madonna is two, Madonnoa to Pacino is three, and Pacino to Bacon is four.

The bad news is…Al Pacino wasn’t in Sleepers…

Just replace “Al Pacino” in Max Carnage’s post with “Dustin Hoffman”, and it works out.

Well, I have a Bacon number of 3…

I am friends with…
Lowell Cunningham, who created (and briefly appeared in) Men in Black, which starred…
Tommy Lee Jones who was in JFK with…
Kevin Bacon

I guess I am three degrees as well.

I lit a cig for and made small talk with
Uma Thurman who was in Beautiful Girls with
Pruitt Taylor Vince, who was in 24 Hours with Kevin Bacon

I kinda wish I was further away. Kevin Bacon sucks.

No, no, Kevin Bacon rocks. He’s one of the most interesting actors out there. He was really intense in JFK and is really funny in his comic roles.

My Bacon number is 3.

I once had drinks with Leonard Nimoy who
was in Atlantis: The Lost Empire with Jim Cummings who
was in Balto with Kevin Bacon.
