anyone seen the reamke of "The Hitcher" ?

I loved the orginal movie from 1986

i wonder if this remake is as poor as remakes usually are

Yeah it was a ream job alright…

My brother told me it sucked something awful. I never saw it.

Bad. Even though Sean Bean rocks (not really in the movie, just in general).

Yes, he’s still as sharpe as ever. He’s the only reason my wife and I would have even considered watching this movie. I’m assuming this was a “paycheck” movie for him.

I saw the original, but not the remake. In general, I liked the original, but I thought that it veered away from a logical plot direction in order to supply a “happy” ending. I’m wondering if the remake changed that? Because the thread title doesn’t say “Open Spoilers”, I’ll spoiler box this to ask my question.
In the original, Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell) came to what he thought was a final confrontation with a handcuffed John Ryder (Rutger Hauer) in a police station. Something seems to pass between them at this point when their hands meet, and then Halsey spits on Ryder. Both seem to subtly change their characters at this point. Maybe it was just the fact that he was named “Ryder”, but I was expecting that there was some sort of evil presence that inhabited Ryder, and that it then hopped from him to Halsey when he thought that he couldn’t keep killing. I really expected the last scene to be Halsey flagging down a ride after taking care of Ryder, and introducing himself to the driver as “Ryder” as they drove off. I’m certainly no screenwriter, but I think that it would have been a chilling and more effective ending.

Did the remake keep the same ending, or did they change it?
