They swear they’ve fixed their servers. I’ve signed up. I have an idea for a novel that I’ll use as an excuse to empty a ton of files and arrange things.
Have you signed up? Come on. You know you want to.

Seems to me I’ve heard that one before.
Thanks for reminding me though. I didn’t do much last year, and this year could well be the same, but hopefully I can get to a regional meeting or two–I just moved here and haven’t been able to meet anyone yet. Now I remember why I liked dorm life so much.
I signed up. It’s not like I don’t have 5 gajillion other things to do, but I’ve always wanted to commit to writing something that long. Now I sort of have.
Yep - third year running, and for the first time I’m going to be doing non-fandom writing. Whoohoo! Watch me go 50k
Yeah. Seventh year, hopefully seventh win.
Second year. Last year I didn’t win. Final Fantasy 12 killed me. This year - I’m gonna do it! Watch me!
Just going in for my fifth year … last year, I managed over 160,000 words, but real life will probably prevent that, this year. Still plan to do it and win, though!
Watched it a bit in the previous years. I’m going to give it a shot this year.
Question: can I work on outlining the plot before Nov. 1st, or is it an “everything in the month” sort of thing?
You can outline away, provided you only start the actual writing on November 1st …
I’m torn.
I’ve made the attempt three times - 2003, 2005 and 2006 - and made it to 50K the last two years, so I know I enjoy the challenge.
But since I’ve worked more or less full time for the past year I’m still not finished with last year’s novel, and it’s pretty good. I honestly think there’s more than a snowball’s chance in hell of getting it published when it’s finished. I’m not sure if I’m going to be willing to put it aside for a month to do something else. Maybe.
I am tinkering with some ideas, but the characters are not telling me a story yet. They are still sorting themselves out.
Maybe yes, maybe no.
