I was in a cleaning frenzy yesterday, and came across what looked like 200+ pages of Stephen King’s uncompleted “internet novel”, and wondered whether I should just toss it.
I remember the furor he caused when he decided to put it on hiatus indefinitely, but I stored it away in the hopes he might finish it one day. (That’s been what, 3 years ago, now?)
One finished I was planning on taking it to a Kinko’s and getting it bound, but now it’s sitting in the “maybe” pile of stuff that’s waiting for the trashcan.
I was one of the ones who faithfully paid the buck for each download, but I was also one of the ones who felt cheated when he stopped, so I have mixed emotions about it.
How about y’all?
Q
I understand why he didn’t finish it, and yes, I’m still waiting. (I never printed it out, though–just read it on screen.)
I’ve tried to keep it out of my mind, only because I can’t stand to not finish a story. (I waited until all of the Green Mile books were out before I read it.) I’m a very patient person except for this one little quirk.
Yes, I paid for it dutifully, too. Though it held me well enough to the point at which he stopped–it was really starting to gather momentum when that old dude went on the loose–it contained what I thought was some of his absolute cheesiest writing ever. So I guess I wasn’t heartbroken when he ditched it.
“Hiatus.” Yeah. Sure, Stevie. :dubious:
Paid for it like a good boy. Never read a word of it, but the file is still sitting around. I suppose I will read it someday even if the hiatus doesn’t end, but so far it hasn’t happened.
