I ponied up the $1.00 for Chapter One of King’s online novel The Plant. It was funny as hell, and looks like it’s going to be a great story. Did anyone else? Do you think “pay as you go” literature will work out?
I did too, but haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m not really a fan of his novels, have read none at all, but the movies always appeal to me.
I didn’t know that this was happening . So how’s it work ?
Are you told how many chapters are going to be in the book or do you run the risk of being dragged into a great story which will last for 50 chapters ?
Is this book/short story? available IRL or is it only available from the web ?
Personaly I like books and couldn’t see myself reading a book on a comp. ( Even though I read a hell of a lot on this site ).
Oh , and since Napster will soon be gone and we’ll all have to find new ways to break copyright law’s you don’t want to mail ch.1 to me do ya
The disclaimer says you can give it away if you want (just don’t sell it). But whether it will be finished or not depends on a certain minimum percentage of people offering to pay. And I really want to see how this comes out! So please pay the $1.00.
P.S. The default format is .PDF (read with Adobe Acrobat Reader), but it’s also available in .html and plain Ascii. See http://www.stephenking.com
Go to the Agreement page and click on “I do not agree”.
I printed it out the morning it was released and returned that evening to pay. I figured I’d’ve read at least that much in the store before figuring whether or not to buy the damn thing, it’s just that now I’m drawn in; I don’t want to have to wait untill August for the next installment!
Also, he’s been working on this for eighteen years! It’s not ready yet?
I downloaded it, payed my dollar, and now I’m wondering if it’s REALLY ony 20 pages. Did I miss something?
I’m not reading it as I go. I’m waiting to get the whole thing, then I’ll print it out, bind it, and read it as a novel. That probably makes me an idiot, but I hate reading things in chunks.
…The title page and copyright take up the first two.
