Anyone up for a send-off for Total War: Warhammer 2 with a Succession game?

Warhammer 3 is coming out, and I think it would be fitting to play a SDMB Succession game to send off its predecessor.

For those who don’t know, a succession game is where we each play the game for a number of turns, then pass the save file onto the next person; we keep the board up to date on our progress in the meantime.

If people are interested, we’d need to decide what campaign we’re playing. My preference is for Mortal Empires - the less narrative driven sandbox campaign on a much larger map - but this WOULD require everyone who plays to own both Warhammer 1 and 2. There’s also the matter of DLC units - I think if one player recruits them, anyone loading the save needs them as well? So ideally we’d pick a faction that either doesn’t rely on DLC or one where all the interested players own all the relevant DLC.

Personally I think the most fitting campaign old be as Karl Franz - the quintessential protagonist of the series. The Empire only has two DLCs, I think, which is also a plus. But I’m definitely open to other suggestions. So… anyone interested?

Oh, one other followup thought on DLC - if we wanted to make it easiest to ensure all DLC needed are available, we could play as one of the WH2 DLC factions like Vampire Coast or Tomb Kings, since if you have the DLC to play them at all you have all the content you need. Or Warriors of Chaos, if we really hated ourselves…

While I love Warhammer and I think this sounds really interesting I have found when I play with others here it generally goes bad. It seems I do not play well with others. That’s on me and I have learned my lesson and know better now. I never, ever, play multiplayer anymore no matter the game.

I hope others take you up on this though. I would be interested in reading about how it all plays out.

Still my favorite faction!

I would be up for it. I have all DLC, so I am open to anything. I am the world’s worst Empire player (not that it would stop me from trying!). I would second Mortal Empires.

What difficulty?

If there is one thing that annoys me about Total War: Warhammer it is how bad the AI cheats which only gets worse on high difficulty.

Same here;. I don’t find “give the AI enough money/discounts to support 4 armies with a single settlement” an acceptable form of “difficulty”. As a general rule, I usually play on either Hard/Normal or Hard/Hard.

Agreed - I like normal battles, hard campaign.

Crazy idea: we could do this in WH3 as Demons of Chaos and theme it as each player being a different demon influencing the Demon Prince
