Anyone up for Fred Claus?

It seems like forever since Hollywood produced a good Christmas movie. OK, I guess I liked Elf well enough.

I’m not convinced that this will be a good one either, but I’m going to give it a try.

There is no chance that this movie will be good. Save your money.

Dear God, I can’t imagine anyone over the age of 10 or with an IQ above 80 being interested in seeing that movie.

This is a banner year for Christmas movies, what with The Santa Clause 3, Deck the Halls, and Christmas Do Over. I have no doubt that they are all going to be life changing masterpieces.

I’m calling this what it should be called: Vince Vaughan’s Career Suicide.

My reactions upon first seeing the trailer for this movie back in summer were that it looks (a) horrible, (b) like a lame mishmash of cliches from other Christmas movies/specials, and © an attempt to purge the last bit of magic and wonder from the Santa Claus myth.

Nothing I’ve seen since has made me change my mind, and I now mute the TV and turn my head whenever commercials for this film come on.

I guess I’ll be in the minority here. I am never, ever interested in any of the Christmas movies that come out, but for some reason, I think this is going to be funny, and I’m planning to see it.

If I’m as wrong as everyone else seems to think, you can probably expect another 32 years before I go see a Christmas movie in the theater.

Uh, excuse me? Bad Santa?

Well, it’s my favorite anyway :p.

The production design and art direction looked good in the trailer I saw.

 Well each to their own… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m surprised. I have real doubts myself, but was very surprised at Elf, so I thought I’d give this a shot.

Usually though, if I think it looks like a stinker, almost everyone else is telling me it is gonna be hilarious.

It looks like a large piece of crap to me.

Also, it’s a prime candidate for my 3 trailer theory; if a film has more than three different trailers put out before the movie opens, the movie will suck.

I’ve seen 4.

Looks absolutely horrible to me.
Someone would have to pay me at least $20 to sit through it (but I’m cheap!) $50 if the sun was shining at the time. Anyone else want to estimate their price?

I’m intrugued by the film. Paul G. hasn’t disappointed me yet. Having him play Santa should be the most fun.

25% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes so far.

“Ooh! Look how funny the tall man is next to all the elves! See? He doesn’t fit in! He’s supposed to fit in because of the “family connection” to Santa Claus, but really he doesn’t! It’s funny cuz he looks so funny next to all the elves…cuz he’s so tall! And they’re so short! He’s tall! See?”
I think I saw this movie when it was called “Elf.”

I like Paul Giamatti and Vince Vaughan enough that I’ll probably catch it at some point down the road but it doesn’t look interesting enough to catch in the theatre.

I just learned that it has both Rachel Weisz *and *Elizabeth Banks in it. Yummmm!

Ever since they started deluging us with adds for this thing I have been eagerly awaiting its release.

So it would flop, leave the theaters and I would have to put up with any more commercials for it until the DVD comes out.

If it were going to be rated R I would defintely consider, but not as it is now…

That’s pretty much what most of the reviewers are saying: it should have been in the same vein as Bad Santa.
