Oh, and mugwise, you can use any old coffee cup or mug. Currently I use an antique Burma-Shave shaving mug, but before that I kept my Burma-Shave in an old Watergate Hotel coffee cup.

Never had the problem.

If intentionally trying to cause the problem one might:

  1. Don’t shake can before using.
  2. Invert can while pushing for foam.
  3. Allow younger siblings / mischevious roomies access to can.
  4. Buy can from discount stores, where it’s liable to have been stored a long time under poor conditions.

I used Edge for 20 years, just like Grandpa (dad has a beard). But I was tired of cans that would tip over as the got used up - on a tile floor that’s nice for the downstairs neighbor - and switched to the new Neutrogena Skin Clearing shave cream. Best shaves ever. More expensive, but you only need to use a little - about half of the Edge I used.

I’ve used Edge for years and never had that problem until it was truly out. Seriously considering changing to the mug and soap, though. And how about that Mach 3! Makes an old double edge look positively stone-age.

I just know this thread is going to bring on my recurring beard-shaving dream (and yes, I know I chose to click). I hope I get to use proper soap and a shaving brush in the dream this time.

I’ve been using Edge for years ever since getting a free can or two in college, just like NardoPolo. I just realized that I got that first free can almost exactly 20 years ago. Good marketing gimmick those free cans are! I have never had the problems that the OP has described and it takes me practically a year to go through a can.

As an added advantage Edge Gel always wins in a shaving cream fight. ALWAYS. The range of that stuff is amazing. I don’t have accurate measurements but I can tell you it shoots much farther than Gillette’s prefoamed stuff. :slight_smile:

–Safety reminder-- Shaving Cream in the eyes burns, and shaving cream in your pocket is just damn messy.
