Mock Me: I Paid $15 for Shaving Cream

I got as a gift this hoity toity shaving cream called Logistics by Anthony I used it and I really like it. I don’t know why but I feel like it does exactly as it advertises, I felt like I was getting a better shave, closer smoother, you know. I had no idea how much it cost, I figured more than regular shave cream, maybe 7-8 dollars tops, but I didn’t really think I would buy it again.
But then I was in Sephora with my fiancee and look on the shelf and there it is. “How much is this?” I ask, “Fifteen dollars.” My immediate thought is not, 'Fifteen dollars for shave cream! What? Who? Why? That’s ridiculous! How can you sleep at night!" as it rationally should be. No my first thought was, 'I can afford that. And I bought it, and I am enjoying. But I also have this feeling of buyer’s remorse every morning when I put the stuff on.

Go ahead mock me for shelling out $15 for shave cream, I deserve it and I can take it.

Ha. Ha. Hahaha. I use an electric razor; I will never have to buy shaving cream again. My face is clean and dry before and after I shave.

You’re not alone, This is what I use. It is definetly thicker and richer than regular shaving stuff, and it comes in a neutral nut/soybean scent that I like a lot better than the wierd Gillett stuff. I use to share a can with my sister who used it on her legs(when I still lived with her). It’s great stuff and worth the money.

I think that they sell the Anthony line at Bath and Body Works, and I think it’s cheaper that you paid. I can’t knock it though. Much has been discussed on the boards about the trick razors that keep coming out, but damn it all if they don’t seem to work, and I fully believe that trick shaving cream does too. I personlly use Neutrogena for men shaving cream (with Q10, whatever that is) and I love every second of it, even though I can get by with a $.75 can of Barbasol.

Even if it does nothing special, the spendy shave creams smell better.

This is only slightly related, but, if you ever have bought a USB cable at Comp USA, Best Buy, or similar big box stores, you deserve to be laughed at. A 6ft standard cable starts at the mid 20’s, 9ft starts mid 30’s. I saw, at Target, a cord for 10 bucks! This isn’t even getting into the fact that I ordered one offline for 3 dollars, including shipping.

$ 18.00 philosophy razor sharp silicone shaving gel

$ 22.00 - Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar Shaving Cream 5.8 oz

$ 28.00 shaving cream L’OCCITANE for Men - Cade Shaving Cream

$ 54.00 Acqua di Parma Collezione Barbiere Shaving Cream - 5 oz

$ 1.29 Barbasol

Don’t feel bad, I pay $15 just to post to a message board

Very well. You asked for it.

[french accent]
Go and boil your bottom, you son of a silly person!
I fart in your general direction.
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
[/french accent]

I hope you’ve learned your lesson.

I’d love to mock you, but I just spent as much on a bottle of hair conditioner…and I’m a guy. I have no right to mock you.

Available at Bath & Body works, eh? Hmmm…

My local grocery store is moving to a new location so they’re trying to get rid of their stock. I scored two $24 bottles of wine for $4 each! Mmmwwwahahahha

But Barbasol smells like diapers!

Clean ones at least, but you don’t want your face to smell like a pack of fresh disposable diapers. My ex used that when we started dating; within two months, I’d convinced him to switch to some Lush stuff that was about $15 a jar. It was worth it. No diaper smell.

Started using all three of these (pre-shave wash, shaving gel, post shave lotion,)at the suggestion of a girlfriend. I used to be a diehard electric razor man; now I wouldn’t go back for anything. My face has never felt better, had less irritation or ingrown hairs. $17 plus the cost of the razor cartridges, and worth every single penny. I feel like haunting the shaving cream aisle and accosting every guy buying regular shaving cream. “No, don’t use that crap… use THIS!”

I should be Ashamed. Uses soap and shaves in the shower

Have you figured out your cost per shave?

If it is 50 cents per shave, do you feel it is still worth it?

Are you stealing your children’s lunch money to pay for the shaving cream?

Were any animals harmed to produce your shaving cream?

Does the shaving cream company have an over-seas call center?

How about stupid advertisements?

Is the company secretly buying up wet-lands with the intent of filling them in and building Wal-Mart super centers?

Is the shaving cream container recyclable?

Is it needlessly over packaged?

Does the shaving cream have instructions for the hearing impaired?

Could the empty container entrap small animals?

What is the company’s position on women’s rights?

Child labor?

Does the owner of the company, or any of the board of directors drive a Hummer?

Do any of them have a “personal trainer” and admit it?

Is the shave cream safe for those with peanut allergies?

Does the company have a web site? Does it have a stupid flash intro?

Is the company a member of the NRA?

Does using the shaving cream cause you to have thoughts of injuring yourself or others?

Well, I could go on and on but you probably wish I wouldn’t

I’m jealous!

I use the popular Whatever Is On Sale When I Need It brand of shaving cream.

If it’s going to make my armpits smell like clean diapers- well, that’s better than a lot of things they could smell like. If someone were to sniff my armpits, I will probably say something in a soft, reassuring tone of voice and back away slowly until I’m too far away for them to grab me, then run and scream for help.

I will mock you only when I have taken $15 from you in poker, spend THAT money on the same shave cream, and be totally disappointed with the results when I use it. I reserve the right to mock you when I have completed this feat by Friday, but for now, I will hold such mockery in check.

I spent $33 (including shipping) for two 8 oz. Bottles of Gilchrist & Soames Shampoo. Because I like the fragrance. Apparently, I’m a girl.

The bowl of Proraso shave soap I like cost about twelve bucks, but it’s lasted eight months and it’s only half gone. Not such a bad deal.

The pre-/-after shave on the other hand costs a lot

Oh, Target is carrying the Proraso products now, I hear, at around $8 for pre-/after-shave and $4 for soap. I recommend it to anyone looking to try out something a little more traditional or luxurious than the standard Gilette products.

"Hi, I’m Gangster Octopus for Logistics by Anthony. I use it, and I really like it. I don’t know why, but I feel like it does exactly as it advertises. I feel like I’m getting a better shave, closer smoother, you know.

"But then I was in Sephora with my fiancee and look on the shelf, and there’s Anthony! “How much is Anthony?” I ask, “Fifteen dollars.” Now I feel closer to Anthony too. Closer smoother, you know. How can I sleep at night, being so close to Anthony? But I am enjoying it. Every morning, as it rationally should be. I bought it, and I am enjoying. But I also have this feeling of buyer’s remorse every morning when I put the stuff on Anthony.

“Go ahead and mock me. I deserve it and I can take it, I use it and I really like it. I’m getting better, closer smoother, and so is Anthony.”
