Gillette...again!!

Well fuck me standing low.

After introducing the 5 bladed Fusion onto the market and telling us that we can now get the closest shave since the creation of crow shit, what do they do next?.

They introduce a Fusion shaving gel which you have to absolutely use in conjunction with your Fusion razor (if you fell for the BS and bought one)

With the new Fusion gel your shave will be even closer by fuck, possibly now showing your jawbone

Listen assholes…there are hundreds of shaving gels on the market and they are priced far far lower than the Fusion gel…so shove it up your ass 'cuz you are getting on my tit.

I have seen two pit threads on this topic. I hate to say it but every Christmas I buy the new razor for my hubby and he likes that present more than most. He has always had sensitive skin and razors have caused him great discomfort in the past. He swears that each generation gets better and he loves these things.

::: shrug:::
Look here is the deal, I have a beard that eats cheap razors for lunch. A BIC? Don’t make me laugh, I won’t even get one shave out of it before it is tearing my face to ribbons.
The high end razor work better on my face than the cheap ones. Over the years I have used[ul]
[li]Single edge[/li][li]Double edge[/li][li]Injector[/li][li]Various disposables[/li][li]Trac 2 [/li][li]Mach 3[/li][li]Mach 3 power[/li][li]Electric non- rotary[/li][li]Electric rotary (Norelco)[/li][li]Fusion Power[/li][/ul]
The Fusion power gives by far the best shave. Deal with it.

Now on to shave creams / jells For the last 10 years or so I have used Aramis Maximum Comfort Shaving Cream. A tub for the house and a tube for my suitcase. At $12.50 for a 100ml tube this stuff is uber expensive. Still you use so little, it works out to be not that much more expensive than any other quality shave cream and the results are better.
So a month or so ago I was packing for a trip, and I was almost out of Aramis. My Fusion came with a sample of Fusion shave gel, so I threw it in. When my tube of Aramis had given its all, I unpacked the Fusion Gel. Guess what? Great stuff. Works better than any other gel I recall trying. Not as good as the Aramis, but damn good, and cheaper.
So Chowder, Gillette makes a superior product, that some people like. Some of us like it a lot. Just cause you have soft girly-man whiskers that could be cut with a butter knife, don’t rag on us real men that either have to use top quality stuff, or a chain saw for our real men beards. We know what works for our manly men beards.

Oooooh Rick you are so sexy when you’re mad…incidentally how do you know I have soft girly whiskers (which I haven’t)

Over to you big boy…oops sorry I meant real man

wild applause

I used to use a non-rotary electric. Replaced the foils and blades every freaking two months at absolute best, and even then it felt like it was using the patented yank and tug mechanism.

FFS, if you don’t need it, it’s not for you. This is exactly like the people who rag on the rural northerners because their one-size-fits-all mentality says any SUV use is evil, only with less smog.

Lissa, that discribes me as well. One fantastic discovery was that non-aerosol shaving cream works MUCH better for me than either the canned foam or gels. Well enough so that I am fine with the cheapest 2-blade disposables.

Barbasol in the toothpaste tube, or King of Shaves in the plastic shampoo concentrate style tube seem to work about equally well. I initially tried them as they pack easier for travel, but now this is all I use. I will occasionally use the soap-mug-brush routine when I run out, but the stuff in the tubes is better.

I just got a free fusion razor with one cartridge in the mail from Costco. I tried it and found that it was not an improvement over the sensor razor. The problem is the head is to big and it makes hard to shave under the nose.

On the subject of shaving cream. The origins blade runner shaving cream is great. Expensive but great.

Does it vibrate yet?

He’s never liked the tube kind. We’ve tried a few different brands of it. I’ve teased him that he only dislikes it because he has an expectation that shaving cream will come in a can and anything else just doesn’t seem “right.”

What he’s been using is the Bath and Body Works brand, which he really likes. In conjunction with the multi-blade razors, his skin is much less irritated.

I started getting bad razor bumps and a pharmacist recommended using Aveeno gel - I started and it works great. No added fragrance, and I guess it has oatmeal in it, but it works great.

My experience with rotaries is more like the blades just whipped my beard into a downy fluff without actually cutting anything. This is with brand new blades. Yank and tug? I’m not sure my little tiny hairs were even passing through the slits in the screen.

I liked my twin blade until they discontinued the cartridges and I had to go to a trippple. Which is a nice enough razor, except now I simply can’t use a disposable twin–OUCH!

May have to try some of that LAB stuff because for some reason the trippple isn’t sawing through so well anymore either and I find myself getting a little–vigorous–with the razor.

But if it comes to 5 slashing & vibrating blades lubed by some top secret formulation of space-age lubricants to knock the fucking trees off my face then I’m going to suck up and shell out the semolians.

I gave up after three blades, and got myself a good solingen straight razor, a badger brush, and use either Williams mug shave (cheap) or Caswell-Massey(expensive).

I strop it with each use, and sharpen it as often as necessary.

I will never buy a razor again, and the cake of soap lasts me between 2 and 3 months, depending on how often I have to shave.

They can put 6, 7, hell, they can put 10 blades on a razor, and let you lube your kisser with 10W30 that smells like fresh rain, and you still won’t get a smoother shave than my surgically sharp straight razor with the mug soap. Add a warm damp towel at the end, and let it sit on your face for a few minutes…

Just can’t beat it.

I almost never notice the google ads at the bottom, but what the hell is up with them now?

Nevermind, I guess they just change randomly - when I posted that all four were about drug addictions and LSD. Weird.

I asked this in a previous post but nobody gave an answer so I’ll ask again.

Why is it that no brainiac has come up with a cream/gel or whatever that men can smear on their face to dissolve hair and making a shave uneccessary for a good few weeks.

They have the stuff “Veet” that works for female hair and whilst I admit theirs is much less tougher than a mans beard surely someone out there can come up with "Veet…* for men *

Or maybe they have and Gillette have them propping up some overpass like whatsisname Hoffar?

The chemicals needed to dissolve hair are very harsh. I could never use the stuff on my legs becuse it made my skin sting and burn. I can’t imagine what it would have done to my face.

They do, some black dudes use it, look in that section. It’s pretty harsh.

Yeah, it’s called magic shave.

For Razor Bumps

I wouldn’t trust it–I have baby skin with trees growing out of it. If I tried it all they’d find is my bare skull in a puddle of melted face with some wires sticking right out of the jawbone.

But it’s a good idea.
