I use the stuff, and don’t seem to have a problem with pressure. I do confess to never shaking the can, so possibly that’s it right there. Are you buying it consistently from the same place? Maybe “Tony the Stock Boy” is havin’ some fun with you…
Just so’s we’re not overlooking the obvious, you realize that ‘just a dab’ll do ya’ with that stuff, right?
I say that only because I hadn’t used the stuff in months (I can’t recall now why I stopped buying it), and the first time I did I went overboard, and ended up with enough foam to cover my whole bloody head.
“Oh yeah, this stuff expands exponentially when ya rub it in. Forgot about that.”
:smack:
Well, I admit to a little creative guessing, but the can’s just been opened, and for a while everything came out just fine then it stopped. By weight if feels almost full. It is stored in my bathroom which is warm.
I’ve used nothing but Edge shaving gel since I ended up with like 20 new cans from the “welcome to college” bonus packs that were given out.
They all have done exactly that - stopped dispensing product while you know there’s still more in there (because you can shake it and feel it move around).
That’s just the way it is. You’ve already gotten your money’s worth.
All that’s left to do with the can is turn it upside-down, and clip off that little plastic plug in the bottom of the can. Just because it’s there. Be ready for a bit of a mess, though… (and for Heaven’s sake never do that with a full can!)
Ya dinna need ta spend a boodle, neither. I got a $10 drugstore brush 15 years ago and it’s still going strong (I’ve repainted the handle once just for kicks). A $1 olive oil soap bar lasts me about a year, and the best parts are:
A) you can always tell how much is left, and
B) it always comes out.
Make the switch!

p.s. forgot to mention, with warm water on the brush it works as well or better than any can cream I have tried, including Edge gel.
I always use Edge when I can get it. Never had any problems, although when the thing stop dispensing, that’s just about it. I could never coax any extra from the can. And I use enough to shave my whole head. Because I do, twice a week or so. I think the cans last me about 1-3 months.
I’ve always used Edge gel and I’ve never had a problem. Every time it stops dispensing, it feels empty. It lasts me a while, too. I shave 3-4 times a week and it lasts for months. I also use the Gillette Mach 3. I tell ya, you can’t beat that combo for a close smooth shave.
odd, I’ve never had that problem at all, though sinc eI 've had an electric rasor I’ve not used it very often. I think I’ve had the same can for at laast a year, maybe longer…still worked this morning though…dang broken electric rasor…
Geez, Quasi, way to scare the bejesus out of me. I was expecting something like, “Hey, I just read this in the New Brunswick Journal of Medicine; says Edge shaving cream causes… really bad stuff… to happen…”
Tell me more about the shaving soap and cup. How do you use it? Do you add a little hot water to the cup and stir up a bit of a lather with the brush, then apply to your face? After you’re done, do you do anything special, like pour out the lather or anything? I use an electric razor now, but it takes just as long to shave with it.
Fill the basin 1/3 with hot water. Sometimes I use a kettle since the hw pipes are cold first thing in the morning and my bathroom is right next to the kitchen.
Immerse brush bristles in hot water. Dampen face with brush.
Immerse brush again. Shake off some of the water. Swirl brush in shaving mug whilst humming “He is the Very Model of a Modern Major General” for about 45 sec.
Using swirly motions (small radius circles) lather up face. Might have to re-dip brush, if not enough foam was generated the first time, but ideally this will not be the case.
Shave away.
Rinse brush in HW, shake dry, store upright.
YMMV.

p.s. one thing I have found…you can’t really leave the shaving soap on your face for a while before shaving, since it dries out. So try not to answer the phone, make a sandwich, re-gap your spark plugs etc. between the lathering and shaving steps.
Ugh. Too much effort. I remember when I started using the mug n’brush, and UncleBeer saying “I’m a BUSY MAN…I don’t have TIME for such shit!” So I always kept it simple.
Step out of the shower. Turn the hot water on in the sink.
Fumble for mug, brush, and safety razor. Drench brush under the stream.
Shake out brush and swab in the mug for about TEN seconds. The object here is NOT to make a mug o’ suds, no matter what the barbershop scenes in old movies show, but to get soap onto the tip of the brush.
Do the little swirly motions on the face. The jawline is a good spacious area. Here’s where you work up a decent lather. Your face is still wet from the shower. There’ll be enough soap on the brush that you won’t need to re-swab.
Using the brush, spread lather up and around all over the area to be shaved. Dab at the moustache area last.
