Cute!
I’m boggled that the OP lives in Ft. Worth but doesn’t recognize a wolf spider. They vastly outnumber the humans here in Tarrant County;you can see them almost everywhere in the summertime, especially when it’s not rainy. There’s almost certainly at least one living somewhere in any given house. And (assuming that those dimensions are including the legs) that’s not an especially huge one. Pretty healthy-sized, but not mind-boggling.
(Checklist for today: discouraging immigration to North Texas. Check!!)
Good Christ. Another reason to never ever move to Texas.
Yeah, winter up here sucks, but it tends to keep the creepy crawlies small.
And a “Quiet, you!” to anyone who says that we have wolf spiders in Minnesota too. La la la la la la I’m not listening!
Wolf spiders are gorgeous creatures. We have large burrowing wolf spiders here in Australia, and I keep track of the burrows and watch the owners over the year or two they live there. The large males often come inside when they are wandering, looking for a female. I don’t understand this ‘kill it!’ attitude. These are harmless, living animals. It isn’t that hard to put them outside. Are people really that divorced from the natural world?
