Well, I’d like to be a subscriber, but I don’t know how to work PayPal or even have a credit card. My parents won’t let me use their credit card, either, and they don’t trust the Internet enough to use their credit card on it, anyways.
So, anyone wanna pay for me? I promise I won’t do anything illegal or unethical or whatever. But, I don’t know how I could pay you back because I don’t trust the post mail service system enough to send cash to someone who might be halfway across the world.

I’d do it if I had any spare income but I can’t even afford Christmas presents for my family this year.
If you don’t get any offers here, you can try this thread in ATMB. That should probably be a sticky anyway… we’re still getting lots of people that can’t subscribe and the board’s full of suck… er, I mean philantropists.

IIRC, you’re in Toronto, right dare_devil? I can think of a couple Toronto Dopers who might help you out. How would you feel about sending cash to someone in Toronto? Also, I don’t know how Canadian post offices work, but I think in the US you can order a thing that will tell you when the other person receives the mail. Maybe you could look into that?
Or you can get a money order at almost any grocer, and send it to someone to pay for you when they receive it. That’s what I did! (Thanks, Bambi Hassenpfeffer!!) Just change your password for the day they will be paying for you.

Heck, a kid in North Carolina mailed me a fiver so I would pay for him. He had to tell me his password temporarily, but it worked out. I hope he gets a cc for next year’s payment.

If the problem is just that you don’t know how to work Paypal, wouldn’t it just be easier to learn - it takes about 5 minutes - than to get someone else to pay for you?
I don’t mean to be unsympathetic but you have figured out how to use a computer so Paypal shouldn’t be that big of an issue. Good luck in any case. It’s fun here.

So I think, without the credit cards, you can’t even use Paypal. Although with a debit card it may be possible.

I thought I set up my Paypal account by having them deduct the funds from a checking account. My memory could be faulty, of course.
I set up my paypal with my debit card. Which of course, draws funds from my checking. I think you can set up a paypal account with a checking account alone, but I’m not certain.
I no longer remember for sure how I set up my PayPal, but it doesn’t matter – dare_devil007 is 15 or 16 and probably doesn’t have a checking account either.
