I’m looking for a low pressure part time job. I have a perfect driving record and like driving. Does anyone have any experience doing this job"
Haven’t done it but did work at a dealer. The drivers were mostly older guys. Mostly local trips, couple of hours but sometimes longer. What else do you need to know? Can’t get much lower pressure.
One item of advice: Before applying for a job as a driver, change your name to something other than “Gin man”. It sends the wrong message.
…I’m gunna tell this again anyway cause I like it so much…
Had some young friends who did dealler trade driver in the UK. One did so much that he started dreaming about it… He dreamed that he was driving down the motorway.
When he woke up, he was.
Since the OP is looking for shared experience or opinions, let’s move this from General Questions to IMHO.

My dad did this for a while after he retired from his regular job. The work/money was too little and too irregular though and he stopped after about six months. It didn’t help that when an offer to transport a car came in he either had to do it right now or lose the job to one of the other drivers.
What’s wrong with the textile industry?
I did it for about six months and mostly enjoyed it. I’m in the UK so distances were not such an issue and anyway the company I worked for allowed us, within reason, to specify regions where we preferred to work. I live in the south so mostly stayed within 100 miles of home. We could also select the days we worked - we just had to advise the office on a Friday which days we wanted to work the following week.
The money was not great, not even minimum wage when you took into account travelling time between jobs and time spent on buses and trains. On the other hand travel expenses were reimbursed and as it happens I quite like train journeys so that was good for me.
Try it, you might like it.
Thanks for posting this. Now I know what this job is called.
I’ve been thinking of picking up a little part time work to pass the time this winter as most of my likes and hobbies are geared more towards warmer weather. I haven’t found snow tires for my motorcycle yet!
I really enjoy driving and have been considering this job.
So it’s off to the car dealerships this week.
On a related note, a friend of mine was bored with retirement and is now driving a WIDE LOAD car. He loves driving and the extra money comes in handy.
(He drives the car that precedes or follows a wide load)
I did this for a couple of used car lots after I finished high school. Got to drive a wide variety of vehicles including some now rather rare high performance cars. Also got stuck along side the road a number of times because the cars broke down. The worst was being stranded for about 12 hours in the middle of nowhere because the car had expired tabs and the owner of the lot was too cheap to buy dealer plates. He insisted I drive back roads between Bremerton and Tacoma, that’s not very easy when you have a large body of water named Puget Sound between them. I quit that job a few days later.
A little aside, but here ya go. As a benefit, they instantly tenderize roadkill!
