I know, I know, you’re not a doctor and if you were you wouldn’t be able to tell me much here.
That said, I’m wondering if anyone has woken up with one side cheek/lip/jaw asleep, so you can tell me it’s perfectly normal and I can stop being afraid to fall asleep.
3 times in the past 2 months or so, including last night, I have caught myself waking up overnight with my lip and chin numb, like when your hand falls asleep only on my face. It went away as soon as I rubbed it or got up and moved around, again, just like if my hand were asleep.
I was able to move my face normally, speak normally, etc. so no stroke signs.
I have a lot of anxiety and OCD, and made the mistake of googling it, which resulted in some very scary pages popping up with words like “ominous” and very bad diagnoses. I did not find this helpful. Numb chin is nothing to mess with, but from the little I’ve seen it’s constant and not intermittent, and would occur during waking hours. I think.
FYI: [ul]
[li]Side sleeper[/li][li]All teeth extracted 5 years ago; I sleep with my false teeth out.[/li][li]I’ve noticed my hands near my face while sleeping recently, so it’s possible I’m pressing on something. ???.[/li][li]Doctor said since all standard blood tests are normal and don’t bug him unless it’s persistent. He essentially told me to go away. I tend to mention a lot of things to him that are usually just annoyances and I think he sees this as just that.[/li][/ul]
I’d really like to make myself feel better about this and not have to complain about one more symptom to my very patient and supportive husband, so if anyone has experience with this please let me know.
