I recently beat Fallout 4 +All DLC and got all of the achievements. Now I’m sad. I just bought these games
Deus Ex - Mankind Divided
Star Wars Battlefront
Mad Max
Wolfenstein - The New Order
Titanfall
Sunset Overdrive
Battlefield Hardline
Dying Light
Ryse - Son Of Rome
Skyrim
Sleeping Dogs - Definitive Edition (360 Re Release)
For about $70 bucks by sleuthing on eBay, and it seems I am out of ideas. I figure that once I am done with those, the currently released ones will be cheap, I’ll get those and repeat the process.
Are there any other DECENT games for Adults (no kid-like cartoonish characters) that i’ve missed? I loathe the Watch Dogs games and Dishonored wasn’t really my kind of game) I will get Andromeda soon enough, but is this it? Is this really all there is?
Based on the type of games that I bought, are there any other titles out already, old or new that are worth considering?
My Xbox One came with The Division. You listed a few FPS games in your list so I assume you enjoy those. It’s a gritty online FPS with RPG elements that takes place in modern-day New York City during a massive viral epidemic that leads to martial law and a quarantine of the whole city. You fight gangs of criminals using military weapons and futuristic technology while helping citizens, restoring city infrastructure, and discovering a cure for the epidemic.
It’s mostly single player though you see other random players inside story hubs and you can team up with friends or strangers to solve missions. There’s also a “dark zone” area where PvP is allowed and you can be attacked by “rogue” players who can be brought down for bounties.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I dig it and I like customizing my character’s appearance, crafting modded gear, and building up my skills. Enemies are actually pretty smart and try to flank you, or flush you out of cover with grenades and are smart with cover themselves. You can also use suppressive fire to force enemies into cover which I thought was pretty realistic and I don’t think I’ve see that in many other FPS games.
The special tech is what keeps the game from getting stale to me. I love throwing a turret onto a high spot (like the corner of a building or the top of a bus) and having it shoot at enemies who scream in fear about the “robot gun” while I set up a crossfire with my assault rifle. You can get skills that set up traps, or create your own cover, or stun enemies, or provide a ballistic shield or temporary body armor, etc.
Ordered it, “The Division”. Played it before and it seemed fun, the enemies seemed like they were hidden in pockets around the city though, not really evenly spread out, but I am a sucker for RPG elements in FPS games. Any other suggestions? I just want to have a stack of games, so I have options and a supply to play until the next grouping i choose is cheaper. =) I typically play around 3-4 Hours a night so they go by reasonably fast. Sci-Fi games are a huge bonus, but they seems so scarce and I am hearing awful things about the new Mass Effect game…
Thanks!
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? An open world RPG, and definitely not one for kids! Choices have consequences, and it’s a large game so will keep you busy for a while. You don’t need to have played the first two games in the series, although if you have, there are recurring characters and a few easter eggs.
Ever play Red Dead Redemption? There’s a sequel coming out later this year.
You say you hated Watch Dogs but not why. Far Cry 3/4 and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, Syndicate and Rogue* were all well received but they all follow the basic Ubisoft model of “Open world with lots of mini-objectives to unlock”. If that’s what bothered you in WD, it’ll bother you here. If you just hated the plot, characters, driving or something else from WD maybe you’d like those other games more.
AC: Unity was poorly received due to performance issues and glitches but I believe those were largely patched out and might be a decent game now. Haven’t tried it though.
Far Cry had me sold even since the first one I used to play on PC. I just ordered PRIMAL, looks fun and unique.
I just couldn’t stand Watch Dogs, I beat it for the sake of doing so, but there is a laundry list of why I didn’t like it.
Protagonist was awful, no depth to the character, the villains were not believable, and the plot was something out of a NBC TV Show. I live in Chicago and none of it was reminiscent, as if they didn’t even try. Meh, it goes on.
Basically, the plot has to be semi-decent, something half way believable. Watch Dogs just felt like a GTA clone with some things changed after the fact to make it different, the way a school paper feels plagiarized but you can’t prove it. For the driving aspect, since it was pretty integral to the game, they could have done much better with the vehicle dynamics too, the game felt nerfed, even when shooting at someone, you didn’t get much satisfaction out of it.
Prey is getting lots of praise in the thread discussing it and it looked pretty good in the preview videos I saw.
