Anyway to find out the geographic distribution of Dopers?

Just the number of actual members seems to be a closely guarded secret. Do thing you could actually get this information somehow?

I’m one Doper who used to live in Ohio. I lived there when I joined. In fact, I lived there when I paid for membership. I voted in the 2004 election…for Kerry. Now, I’m in Texas.

I still miss it ,though.

My secret is that I went to Michigan State, so we have a common rival.

I vote for: we display our location because we want to make sure there are discerning, ignorance-fighting people in Ohio.

ZipperJJ, my old roommate (originally from Puerto Rico) and I noticed a long time ago that there were a disproportionate number of well-known people with Ohio ties. Seemed like we were forever running into people who were born in Ohio, grew up in Ohio, had family in Ohio, and on and on.

Oh…and thanks for finding that thread, Sternvogel; I’ve bookmarked it so I can come up with it myself next time. Of course, it’s disappointing that we’re not all that well-represented. (I think a few Ohioans are missing, though.)

Where have you been in Ohio, An Gadaí?

Well, I added myself to the map, so that’s another Ohioan on there - but it does seem like I see a bit more people mention Ohio on here than other states. I’ve lived here for 20 years, moved around the state, finishing college and I’ll be moving around the state again (not far though, we’re heading to Athens next year!)

I just added myself, but in Afghanistan–just to shake things up a bit.

Tripler
I was there for nine months. I consider myself as “living” there.

On the contrary.*

The fight against ignorance has been so overwhelming won that Ohio can afford to export it’s ignorance fighters. (lest they have nothing to do…)

Apparently, this is the best reason for why everyone leaves Ohio. Of course, the few of us that stay have been made to be ignorant-resistant!

I added myself some time ago, but I wasn’t there. Seems like there were three of us from Arkansas at the time, now there are none.
I’ll warrant someone from Ohio edits the darn map!

I’ve been to Cleveland and suburbs including Berea, Olmsted Falls, Mentor and a few others, I’ve been to Columbus, was in Dublin briefly, and I’ve stopped off in Ashland. That’s about it.
My better half lives in Berea.

Spoken like someone who’s never been to the Hocking Hills or Kelley’s Island or the Oak Openings.
