I have left AOL for about 2 years since we got dsl but my wife liked it so we dropped to the BYOA (bring your own access - allows you to use aol if you have a internet connection and still allows you to use their dialup numbers for IIRC $6/hr) plan for about $10/month and still could use dialup when traveling (for a price). It now looks that AOL will start charging $15/month for the BYOA. So she agreed it’s time to move on - but here’s the problem she has over 100 contacts in her aol address book and she no way wants to retype all of them.
Is there a way (or program) to convert the aol address book to outlook or outlook express w/o retyping, if so how?
Thanx
If you can export the AOL address book, you can import it into Outlook Express. Dunno if AOL gives you an option for it, but if you can get the AOL address book exported as a text file or comma-separated file, you can go to File/Import/Other Address Book in Outlook Express and import the addresses that way.
Again, this all depends on how AOL stores the address book and if it can be exported. Good luck.
I did this earlier this year but I cannot remember how I was able to get the addresses and names as a text file. As I recall, it would have been faster to retype them.
An alternate method.
Send an email from your AOL account to your OE account also include everyone in your AOL address book in the TO line of the post.
This post that you recieve in OE now has all the addresses in your AOL address book.
Go to the first address in the TO line, and right click [or Control click] that address. You will be asked if you want to add that address to your Address Book. Press enter, I beleive you will have to key in the first & last name.
Obviously you might want to test with just a couple of addresses first.
