Apartment Intercom System

We live in Vienna, Austria and have an intercom system for people to buzz us in our home and then we speak with them on the intercom and can buzz them in (unlock the front door).

Our problem is our intercom is down a long hallway from our livingroom and we can not hear the buzzer if there is any other noise (talking, TV, etc). The system is rather old and owned by the apartment, so we can not upgrade the system.

Does anyone know of any kind of amplifier we can install over the speaker at the door?

Surely something simple like a baby alarm would do the job?

"buy a RF (radio) doorbell extension. A small transmitter attaches to one of your existing doorbells. The (battery operated) remote receiver has a bell in it that is loud enough "

And you can move it around with you, to your kitchen, lounge room, soaking in the bath… wherever

Bob - we thought of the baby monitor, but also thought that any conversation anyone had at the door could be heard in the rest of the house. People putting their shoes on to leave might say something like - can you believe those people … Could be embarrassing.

Isilder - we will check into the RF Doorbell extension. Thanks.
