Even though my name is at the top of this quote, it’s not something that I wrote or said – it’s from the article that I linked to.
Although, as stated, I do agree with its content.
I mean, you/we could have. If Trump had been dealt a devastating 450-electoral vote landslide defeat last November, that would have been as decisive a “judging” as “we the people” get.
But that’s not what happened. Not only did Trump perform significantly better than the polls indicated, but many millions of Democrats still stayed home rather than vote.
Is that true for 2020? 2016 I could see it but the last election was a record turnout. Donnie was right when he said more people had voted for him than any candidate in the past, but even more people voted for Biden.
It was sort of like Sham breaking the track records for both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness – but was still behind Secretariat.
This would also be a problem if Trump is put on trial in an ordinary court. Consider if Trump is put on trial in Atlanta for violating Georgia election law (re: Raffensperger phone call). Would the prosecutors be able to exclude all Trumpists? Probably not, considering they make up about half of Georgian voters. And you know that even if one is on that jury, it’s going to end up hung. Even in New York, it’ll be difficult to keep them all off the jury.
Your point may be valid, but to nitpick, the jury in Atlanta will be comprised of Fulton County jurors, not a cross section of the whole state. Biden one 72% of the vote in Fulton County in 2020.
Which still results in a possible 3 Trumpists.
But what about what Biden did yesterday! How can you still be talking about this after what Biden did!

Just kidding, I don’t advocate for violence or giving innocent animals food poisoning.
History WILL judge Trump and judge him harshly if such things as facts or truth remain (which is not a certain thing you can attest if you have access to right wing news sources).
But that does not mean he can not face other consequences before the long lens of distance condemns him. The fact that half the country wants to lock him up with all his adherents, then throw away the key — but the other half wants to elevate him because he is “the chosen one” is absurd. Trump will not be forgotten, but Trumpers will certainly be judged by the future.
Hell, Trump will probably have many statues made in his image like the Confederate Soldiers who lost the Civil War did decades after their insurrection. The fact that the Senate did not vote 100 to 0 to convict him during the second impeachment is a mark against the nation, a mark against the entire system. All that history will know is that (at least) half of 2020 America was full on nuts and there will very likely be a debate as to which half was nuts or if it was the whole damn country.
Whatever the future does, we have an obligation to pursue and punish not only Trump but all of his allies as well. He can piss and moan all he wants about partisan ‘witch hunts’ and targeting of him and of ‘freedom’; this country MUST demonstrate we are a land of laws, that truth does matter, that the rich are only a LITTLE above the law!!
The problem is the small individual portions of the totality. The Georgia phone call cannot be its own court case because it is too small. The DOJ phone call is also (while not small at all) only a portion. The calls made to Arizona and the rally that led to violence and death on January 6th while also not small potatoes is only a portion.
Trump needs to face a charge of sedition after the House Committee hears more testimony and gains even more evidence. The Republican Congressmen who said that January 6th was nothing to note should be held in contempt for that testimony (time for that may be gone- but if not. . . ) Lying to congress is still against the law isn’t it? Every one of them should be dragged in and questioned. “On normal tourist tours do you use furniture to blockade the doors sir?” Then later: “No, well sir please explain why you were blockading the door?” And eventually: “So it was not an ordinary day at all was it- so your testimony was false was it not?”
Sorry, I have gone on too much (yet again), but however history judges this time – those that “let it happen” will be judged also. It has not even been a year and many legal battles are already being fought over Trump. But those were old crimes and previous sins. A public trial of Trump as well as his henchmen and henchwomen for his misuse of power and breaking laws to retain power for himself needs to happen in the next year or so in this citizens never very humble opinion.
I think that for Trump to face actual consequences, Trumpism needs to be completely discredited. It dawned on me that COVID in Florida and Texas could make that happen, but I won’t hold my breath.
But I think the only thing that possibly moves the needle is that Trump’s “base” begins to have a little light bulb go on in their brains and an inner voice that says “Maybe those pencil neck geeks are the ones who are trying to protect you and the macho men are going to lead you over the cliff.”
I had a phone conversation with a “forever Trumper” this week and I can assure you none of the ones I know are anywhere close to having a light go off in their heads. (Him and his whole family has already suffered through COVID once and they all refuse to take the shots because and I quote: “I am not an anti-vaxxer – but I will never take the shot. You just said it Temporary, they are not asking! They are mandating and that is undermining my freedom and the freedom this country was built upon!!” The fact that there have been no broad vaccine mandates and none from the federal government does not affect his thought process.)
I think the road out of this quagmire is a better fit for their mentality. They will keep making these stupid and illogical ideological decisions until they push everyone out of the party. They keep playing to an ever dwindling base and they may not follow Zeno’s Paradox into fractal insignificance, but they will come to a time when they need to realize they have driven too many away.
They are never going to give in, ever. But they may just retire to their basement trophy rooms full of Trump gear and stop engaging.
On this matter, I can say that however thoroughly Trumpism is discredited, true Trumpers will never give in, never surrender. It is their identity. It is their hardwired thought process and God given directive.
Friend, it was discredited at the outset. The problem is the trumpists don’t care about the discrediting and they never will.
