Apollo 11 Google Doodle

Awesome Google Doodle today narrated by my favorite astronaut Mike Collins (if you haven’t read his autobiography run out today and get it).

Thanks. Saw it, and loved it! Even got a little tear in my eye. God bless the Apollo 11 astronauts, living and dead, and those who got them to the Moon and back. A remarkable moment in the history of the species.

Yeah, I enjoyed it as well. CNN has a documentary on Apollo 11 I’m recording to watch later. Memories.

Right about now, or not too far off, fifty years ago, I watched Armstrong step out onto the moon. It was full dark, and the sky was clear here.

That was a good one. I’m glad two of the three are still with us, 50 years later.

I have to mention I had breakfast with Mike Collins about 1979. I was doing research at a Smithsonian field station in Panama, and he was working with the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum at the time. He took the opportunity to visit the field station in Panama.

There’s something else about him that’s pretty amazing.
Opened the Air and Space museum building on time and within budget.
Anybody in government who can do that probably deserves a parade.

I saw the Oscar-nominated Apollo documentary For All Mankind over the weekend for the first time since it came out, and enjoyed it all over again: For All Mankind - Wikipedia
