Apparently I'm insane

That’s right, I just found out myself, I mean I’ve always been a little bit off but I think I just slipped over the edge.

I just decided to drive home tonight. I was thinking about my plans for the weekend and realized that the BBQ I was going to go to will probably be rained out and I had nothing else going besides needing to go grocery shopping. All I have left is 3 beers and half a container of cookie dough.

That’s when it hit me; my dad just got back Iraq two days ago for a two week vacation, one of my good buddy’s wives just gave birth to their first son three days ago and it’s Easter.

So today after work I’m going to pack up my dog an a change of cloths, lock the house and drive the 14 hrs (900 miles) home. Unfortunately, I’m not going to use any vacation for this so I’ll be heading back Sunday morning and only get about 24hrs at home but it should be a blast.

I can’t tell any of my friends or family about this because I doing it all as a surprise but I wanted to tell someone that I’m insane and you guys won the prize.

And why not drive home? Sometimes you just have to break out of your rut.

What is crazy about this?

Yes, you’re insane – you should take a day or two off work, so that you can spend more than 24 hours at home.

You’re insane for thinking you need more than beer and cookie dough in your fridge. :stuck_out_tongue:

You should find a cheap flight tonight or tommorow morning and fly back Sunday night.

Well, based on your replies I guess I’m only partially nuts.

The reason that I’m not flying is that my company pays for all of my gas and I just pay taxes on personal miles so this trip is only going ot cost me like $100. I guess I don’t need more the cookie dough and beer since I’ll probably live on red bull for the next week 'till I can catch up on my sleep.

Thanks for the support.

They pay for your gas for driving that has nothing to do with work?!?

Yep, it’s a sweet deal. I just have to pay taxes on the income.
