I wonder if we could get some of them to kneel during the national anthem.
The Alito Flag. Flag of the America Haters.
And (not a surprise) it gets worse:
Justice Samuel Alito spoke candidly about the ideological battle between the left and the right — discussing the difficulty of living “peacefully” with ideological opponents in the face of “fundamental” differences that “can’t be compromised.” He endorsed what his interlocutor described as a necessary fight to “return our country to a place of godliness.” And Alito offered a blunt assessment of how America’s polarization will ultimately be resolved: “One side or the other is going to win.”
I’ve said it before and it is not popular but I will say it again…Biden needs to stack the court.
It seems Alito has done it again:
In a new recording, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito lashes out at the news organization ProPublica, describing the news organization’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Supreme Court as driven by political animus, insisting: “They don’t like our decisions.”
< snip >
The questioner approached Alito with flattery, calling him an “American hero,” and engaged the justice in a discussion of media scrutiny of the Supreme Court: “Why do you think the Supreme Court is being so attacked and being so targeted by the media these days?”
Alito answered: “They don’t like our decisions, and they don’t like how they anticipate we may decide some cases that are coming up. That’s the beginning of the end of it,” he said. But Alito didn’t stop there. He volunteered: “There are groups that are very well-funded by ideological groups that have spearheaded these attacks. That’s what it is.”
It may be that well funded ideological groups attack Alito but I can say, as an individual with no connection to such groups of any sort, that all on my own I have come to the conclusion that Alito is a blight on the Supreme Court (along with Thomas). Not a big of of some others but those two are the worst in my personal, not funded at all, opinion.
Does the article state whether the recording was made in a “1-party consent” state?
As reprehensible as I think Alito is, I’m not entirely sure how comfortable I am about covert recordings. Although, if a public figure is saying something in a quasi-public setting at which cellphones are allowed, …
It was in DC, which apparently has one party consent.
Then Alito is a fucking moron, in addition to being a religious zealot who wants to set up a theocratic dictatorship.
As horrific as this Supreme Court currently is, it’s no exaggeration to say that Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas are outliers even among the deranged right-wing segment. They’re just 100% ideologues with no principles whatsoever beyond total devotion to their cause. It’s appalling that they could be judges at any level, let alone on the highest court in the land. One can only hope that the other right-wingers can see past their ideological blinders and help contain this grievous threat to democracy.
I dunno; I’d like to get rid of the drunkard rapist, too.
The other right wingers will sit back and let it happen, like most right wingers do. If it rains shit they step back and say, “Wasn’t me, babe!”, and if it rains gold they step forward and take golden showers.

And I could do without the Jesus freak, too.
That would have to be at least number 4 on his to-do list:
- Win re-election.
- Win Democratic majority in the House.
- Win Democratic majority in the Senate, either 60 seats, or 51 in favour of ending the filibuster.
- Profit!
Sure, but there are degrees of partisanship. There are hopeful signs that Jesus Freak is capable of some amount of rational thinking on matters not involving Jesus, and there’s even hope that Drunken Rapist may have some interest in preserving democracy in America. Thomas and Alito are beyond redemption. Their votes are 100% predictable and involve no thinking except when necessary to rationalize their preordained conclusions after the fact.

There are hopeful signs that Jesus Freak is capable of some amount of rational thinking on matters not involving Jesus,
I could be proven wrong, but so far I agree that there are signs of hope with Barrett and Kavanaugh.

One can only hope that the other right-wingers can see past their ideological blinders and help contain this grievous threat to democracy.
Roberts (the “sane” one) has been actually trying to sanitize and protect the image of the conservative majority and it’s most extreme wing.
They might not all be equally extreme, but every conservative justice is perfectly fine tolerating the views and actions of their most extreme members.
Yeah, I feel Barrett and Kavanaugh are pretty unfortunate justices, but so far they do not look as extreme, and as willing to push an extreme agenda as Thomas/Alito. It really is curious and unfortunate how non-extreme conservatives - Supremes and in Congress - allow the most extreme colleagues to set policy. Instead of joining Alito and Thomas in their extreme opinions, there is nothing stopping Roberts/Gorsuch/Barrett/Kavanaugh from writing more centrist conservative opinions, which Thomas and Alito could join or not.

I find it, (hilarious, disgusting, hypocritical, all of the above) that Alito will apparently trust his wife to hang a flag in their yard, but he won’t trust her enough to make her own healthcare decisions. Republican priorities.
I believe this is in error. Alito trusts all wealthy women to make their own healthcare decisions. It is women of ordinary or lesser means who must bow down to his theocracy. A woman with financial resources can get whatever healthcare she wishes. This is, and has always been, so.
This same argument comes up when discussing universal healthcare. There are always cries of “rationing” and “wait times” ruining the best healthcare in the world. Wealthy people from all over the planet come to the USA to partake of our awesome healthcare and opening it up to the masses would ruin everything. Yet, time after time, we see that the wealthy will find a way to cut the line and get whatever healthcare they need. They’ll be fine while convincing the rest of us that we musts simply die for their convenience. And too many of the rest of us buy into that.
