Apparently my work is plotting to bring whitey down

That’s very white of you.

<ducks and runs away; all the while, sticking it to the man>

I forgot about that skit. Thanks for the memory!

Well, if he wants to shoot crackers, I guess thats ok. Long as he ain’t after us perckerwoods.

You mean, there really is a “The Man”?
[/Undercover Brother]

I was not offended at all. I was simply wondering if Fin_man was using the term to describe ALL white people.

While white people have not had the hardships of other miniorites, it is still wrong to lump all white people into a single class as in:

-all white people are privlidged
-all white people are not whining about this or that

I hope that’s clear.

What about whitey tighties?

Followed a few years later by this gem from Eddie Murphy:

Remember Eddie Murphy’s poem, “Kill My Landlord?” (As a prison poet in an SNL sketch)

Black and lonely in the night,
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking, do he bite?
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.

Through the window,
break his neck, then his house
I start to wreck.
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.

C-I-L-L

my landlord.

The OP’s stepfather has obviously gone to an extreme but the US Supreme Court is currently debating the merits of Affirmitive Action. What they are debating was brought on by a pair of prospective University of Michigan Law School, those students felt the university discrimiated against them because of their skin color. They’re white.

Jeff Olsen, I don’t think anybody in this thread has talked about affirmitive action (whether it is good or bad). Sure, if the center in which the OP works only accepts a small number of whites (i.e. uses some sort of affirmitive action), then this would case would be relevant.

I’ve never heard of SCORE! (or whatever the center’s name is) but it sounds like the center is a walk-in “I need help” center. If so, affirmitive action doesn’t enter into the picture.

I don’t believe I said it did.
The thread title reminded me of the case so I tossed in the link.

I think it is sad that someone can use a term in a way that is obviously intended to be racist and demeaning, yet see intelligent people say that that is ok. It is this kind of stuff that keeps a lot of the white racist going. That is, the basic concept among many that only white people can be racist, and it is ok to intentionally offend them. DtC, I am afraid that you need to get a life, and your attitudes are only making things worse.
