Are American women as a whole more or less anti-choice than American men as a whole?
LOL, Ted Cruz said somewhere that the GOP has “failed” the anti-choicers because this bill won’t be up for a vote on the day of some big anti-choice march. I’m sure they have no plans to redo this bill on a different day, possibly in the same week.
That’s a good nitpick!
“Conservative Humanists Underwriting Protections About Capable/Aware Brain Response Anklebiters”?
Nah. No such thing as a CHUPACABRA. Must be some Different monster…
I support this PITing of the OP lame Pit thread.
carnivorousplant- you are a useless waste of electrons.
Women were two points more pro-choice than men in 2012. That’s well within the range of fluctuations since the 1970s. Women were also more pro-choice than men in the late 1980s and mid 1990s, and more pro-life at most other years. I certainly don’t see that as evidence of any kind of trend.
The trends are really pretty consistent no matter how you ask the question. Women are, for example, more likely than men to say “rape victims should not have the right to abortion”.
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/gnxp/2012/08/who-rejects-right-to-abortion-in-cases-of-rape/
and were more likely than men to support things like the Virginia ultrasound law:
If you consult the GSS, women are also less likely than men (as of 2012) to support abortion rights when there are serious fetal defects (69% vs. 72%), and equally likely to support abortion rights when the mother’s health is seriously endangered (83%). “Women are more pro-choice than men” really seems to be the myth that will never die.
It fluctuates from year to year, but overall, since 1972 they have been a bit more pro-life.
Please do not glorify this worthless PIT thread with actual thoughts, facts or opinions.
Pretty much everyone is pro-life. When it comes to abortion rights, one is either pro-choice or anti-choice.
Than men? Cite?
Hey! Watch those generalizations!

Read my first comment in this thread, the cite is right there.
When it comes to the “barefoot” part, I’m definitely pro-shoe.
If we didn’t have a rape exception in the abortion ban, there would be no issues with how to define rape. Problem solved.
If we didn’t have an abortion ban, there would be no (abortion-related) issues with how to define rape. Problem solved.
The rape clause is just strange to me anyway. If a person believed a fetus deserves all the legal protection a new born does the reason it exists in the first place is irrelevant.
Like the high treason exception those against Capital Punishment are willing to concede too. It’s either morally justifiable or it isn’t.
Do you guys skip past titles or something? He told you exactly what he thinks of this. Supporting the anti-abortion bill is the same as supporting that women should be barefoot and pregnant, i.e. extremely sexist.
I’m starting to see why so many of you hate Twitter.
Shit, why not laws about when women can have their tonsils removed, or their appendix? Can we really trust them to make such decisions?
Certainly not. The young, especially snerk girls, are emotional and impulsive and make mistakes they’ll regret later in life; they need a firm guiding hand. A decent, moral, self-respecting woman should arrive at the marriage bed with her tonsils intact. And then give them a workout.
