Apparently there are at least two Mike Wallaces

I’ve been trying to get my 16 year old more interested in news/current events/etc. So this weekend I was happy to hear him talking about how great Mike Wallace is. I figured he watched 60 minutes for school, or just by coincidence, and now he is hooked.

So I take out my phone and head to Amazon. I find Wallace’s book (Close Encounters) and prepare to buy it for him. Then he mentions how fast he does the forty yard dash in. Huh? I didn’t know he was an athlete in college.

My gf sat listening and realized the entire time that my kid meant Mike Wallace the football player and I meant the journalist. I found a current pic of my Mike Wallace and showed my son. He is probably still laughing.

There’s also a Mike Wallace who wrote the excellent Gotham: A History of New York City.

Ok, 3.

:d

Mike Wallace on the Bucs or Mike Wallace on the Seahawks?

Those are both Mike Williams. Mike Wallace plays for the Steelers.

Yep. My son is a big Steeler fan.

There are lots of these.
Who woulda thunk there’d be two Harrison Fords that were both action heros in the movies? (How many “Harrisons” are you familiar with as a first name?)

Or that there were two authors named Winston Churchill. Neither of those is exactly a common name.
Not surprising that there’s a whole stack of Michael Jacksons, besides the famous one without a glove or most of a nose.

Readers Digest recently ran an article about ordinary people who have famous namesakes.

Don’t forget Mike Wallace the NASCAR driver.

When I was an RA in college (late 80s) Michael Jordan was on my floor. Scrawny white kid.

To be fair, his nickname is 60 Minutes!

When I was a kid, my best friend was a scrawny white kid named Bill Russell.

That was who I thought the topic was going to refer to.

When the famous Michael Jackson died in 2009 some fans went to the wrong star in Hollywood to pay tribute. There are 2 stars for that name. The other guy was a radio host.

Whenever somebody mentions British supergroup The Dave Clark Five, I like to point out that I have known at least five Dave Clarks in my lifetime and probably more.
