I’ve been traveling for work so I haven’t been in the loop. I’ll ask my friend for an update and I’m posting here to keep the thread fresh. Again, thank you to everyone who has contributed.
Although I struggle to meet my basic needs with a minimum wage job, my body parts are almost always exactly where I want them to be. Good people, even strangers, have shown me kindnesses and I’m thankful to be able to return the favour in a small way today. Vetbridge, wherever you are right now, thanks for keeping the circle rolling.

I clicked on the link, and thought, “Oh, fer crissakes, I have to fill out all this information to make a simple donation?”
Then I realized, I’d much prefer entering my name and address and credit card info, than to have the difficulties this poor child must deal with every day. So my donation has been made.
Hey all, I checked with my former colleague. As of 12 days ago they had raised $5,000 of the $30k they need. That was right about the time that I posted this appeal so hopefully, there has been an increase since then. My friend is on leave, but back this week and he said he would get me more current numbers.
Thanks for bringing this up. I contributed less than I’d have liked to, but at least it was something, and I would not have known about it at all if not for this post.

Any updates on fundraising and Saad’s health, madmonk28?
They didn’t make their goal of $30k, but they do have enough to get started. My friend is trying to find a charity to make up the difference. I don’t know how long this process takes, my understanding is that it will be a series of surgeries.
I’d like another update. Is this kid going to live?
Saad is in Amman, Jordan with his family and has had the first of the surgeries. The surgeries are to place his bladder inside his body and reconstruct his genitals. It is not really an issue of his survival, but the quality of life for Saad. A UN agency has helped with some of the support to the family so that they have a place to live in Amman while he is getting the operations and a doctor has donated some of his time toward the cause.
