Apple Inc., you've broken my heart

So, being a curious sort, and especially looking forward to the new backup system (Time Machine!) in the upcoming version of the Macintosh OS, I went to look at the Apple page listing the new features.

And what, to my astonished and chagrined eyes, did I see? In the dictionary section, no less?

Has the “its” vs. “it’s” battle been lost forever? :frowning:

I e-mailed an address I saw on the “contact us” page (warning them “rest assured I will be on the internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world”) but it’s too little, too late. My faith in the future has been shattered.

I guess you didn’t hear that Apple created a proprietary version of the English language that is more user friendly than more mainstream, competing versions. Gone are arbitrary conventions simply caused by antiquated legacy standards. This release dictates that users can simply use the same word the same way in all applications. Expect more standardization and user friendly features in future releases.

Yep. Its sposed to be more intuitive. Or maybe just fonetical. Dunno fer sure…

(don’t hurt me.)

[…sigh…] You should of known.

Probably. The “your” vs. “you’re” one is long lost.

U guyz r funny!

I’m starting to think that the “Ode to a Spell Checker” was not just a joke, but reality.

“Eye halve a spelling chequer, It came with my pea sea …”

it is not really that particular error that bothers me, is the principal.

You just need to “think different.”

I pity my Windoze-using friends who are forever plagued by “punctuation errors”. My Mac accepts whatever I type and Just Work’s.

Aaaggggghhhhh!!! twitch twitch

You can all report this here: Feedback - Apple.com Website - Apple and the affected URL is macOS Sonoma - Apple . Hit them hard!

Hold fast comrade, it will make the culling that much easier:

“A simple test, friends. Please write out the following sentence that we may match you with the labor which will make you happiest: ‘Your tales of yore pleases those whose job it is to match each to its match.’”

I’ll probably be first against the wall…

If I see “draws” instead of “drawers” one more time in advertisements (Target, I’m looking at you), I’m going to implode. I’ve all but given up on its and it’s.

I once harassed my English teacher because he had assigned me that unreadable book.

A position description for a CFO position here, high-powered, high responsibility:

…experience with capitol management…

:smack:

That’s where I reported it yesterday before I made my post to the SDMB. And it’s still there!

Are you sure it’s not advertising a new product called the Apple iT? - I heard that Wikipedia functionality will be built right into iT’s dictionary.
