AppleTV announcement day question

One thing I missed…I have one of the old n busted AppleTV’s…it seems from what I DID see, that the new unit is nearly the same, without storage. (A4 aside)

Did they mention if the old ATV would get an update to include netflix? that’d be kinda helpful.

He stated that so many people love the Apple TV…I do.

He stated people used it lots and lots! I don’t. :frowning:

Between the Xbox360, the Wii, and the PS3, the ATV doesn’t get a whole lotta use. Course if they Don’t update it, I’ll just watch netflix on the wii or PS3, so it’s no great loss.

I realize you can still stream your Pirat-er-personal video content from your computer, but I sure think that ‘golly, all you can do now is RENT!’ was a major flub.

Jobs didn’t mention that. But it’s a good question - did it get firmware updates before?

“I realize you can still stream your Pirat-er-personal video content from your computer, but I sure think that ‘golly, all you can do now is RENT!’ was a major flub.”

Well, you can still buy media via iTunes on your home computer and stream it. How much memory was on the original ATV?

yeah, a bunch. 3.0 looks nearly identical to what he displayed today.

Again, there wasn’t anything specific, but I don’t see why not. Sorry, man - I really didn’t see the need to drop the memory or size. I guess that was a bulk of the cost, huh?

Well, it’s at least three years old now. I’d imagine most of the bulk now fits on a single Chip (if you consider an iPhone does most of the same stuff, yet includes a screen, battery, flash, and radios.)

The new form factor is way nicer than the old one.

As for memory, the new price point will help to sell a lot more units. The Mac mini was less than double the price of the appletv and vastly more useful.

Bad news, Unintentionally Blank:

Yeah, I saw that…The good news is: it’s not like I’m missing out on any killer functionality.
