OK so I just got back with my new soundcard (Gamesurround Fortissimo III),
fix it into the computer and put in driver disc at startup.
In control panel > Multimedia I change both the preferred playback and recording
designations to my new toy.
To test I insert an audio CD MusicMatch starts up and playback is fine.
Hoping to take advantage of the much vaunted 5.1 sound I insert Pulp Fiction and start up Powerdvd.
It is here that my dreams come crashing down…
There is no sound Under Powerdvd, Winamp or Windows Media Player whereas Musicmatch and Cooledit work just fine I’ve spent hours rearranging inputs from CD drives to Soundcards (both my new one and the one that forms part of my motherboard) and it has no effect.
When I go to Winamps options >preferences and select my new card as an output device the files just refuse to start.
Does anybody have any advice on where I should be looking(Websites, Option/Settings menus) for a way to get at least some performance out of my new purchase?
