"Apprentice" 2/5/04

…and of course, even with impeccable accounting practices they still would have lost bigtime because they brought in far less money than Versacorp did.

I have a question. At the end of last week’s show, they showed scenes of this week’s with a voice over that stated “And you won’t believe the betrayal…” (may not be an exact quote); what was that all about? I don’t recall any betrayals in this episode.

I think the betrayal they were talking about was Jessie telling Kristi to keep quiet unless Trump addressed her directly, then saying that Kristi was the primary force behind their failure. Following Jessie’s advice is what Kristi bounced, after all.

Still, they kept saying it would even shock the Donald, and frankly, after what the Donald has seen out of these women, I doubt anything short of them selling five minutes of girl on girl action for $10 would shock him.

Omarosa’s handling of the money was pretty shoddy. She should have asked everybody to sit down and figure it out. For everything that went on during the project, somebody saw it and could account for it. If they sold so many Chinese umbrellas and couldn’t find the receipt for the purchase, then they’d have the money accounted for.

But did she ask anybody to help go over the numbers? No. Just counted up the totals and said the money’s missing. That in itself should have got her fired.

Good point – esp. since she took it upon herself to do that job, as she stated.

OTOH, I don’t think Trump was wrong to fire Kristi after this ep – her team did badly above and beyond serious carelessness about the money, and she failed to provide a type of leadership that would have helped with the problems they encountered.

[OT]I just figured out what my problem with Omarosa’s name is – the secret in a true Philly cheesesteak is the roll – Amoroso’s…[/OT]

I rewinded my tape, and the Chinatown register read $182.37. Ten minutes later in the show, Omorosa said they were short $180.37. For someone who “tracks every penny”, it was interesting that she didn’t remember the $182.37, especially since she was right there, in person, at Chinatown buying the umbrellas.

It’s too bad they didn’t try to sell real umbrellas, they would’ve looked like geniuses.

Btw, if anyone is interested, the team selection order was:

VersaCorp:
Nick
Amy
Bill
Katrina
Ereka
Tammy

Protege:
Kristi
Troy
Jessie
Kwame
Heidi
Omorosa

Nick obviously did a better job with his picks, as Kristi was influenced by her friendship with Jessie, which ultimately led to a weaker team and Kristi’s undoing.

Caught this on Tivo today…

One thing I noticed at the end of the show was that in the Board Room, Kristi was wearing heels. When she got into the cab, she was wearing knee-high boots. I wonder if she changed in the elevator or if they really don’t go straight home after getting fired. Either way, I’ll miss Kristi as the hottest woman of the house.

Thank goodness someone else said it, 'cause I also noticed that.

Mostly, because I want that coat. The coat that Kristi was wearing when she got into the cab…I want that coat. It’s a great coat. Anyone know where I can find one?

The blow-out ness is bothering me…does that usually happen on reality shows, that one team wipes the floor with the other?

Okay, conspiracy time.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Heidi or Omarosa were behind the disappearing money.

Kristi chose Kwame before choosing either of them- when she didn’t have to! Trump already said there would be two men on each team- Nick’s pick of Bill and Kristi’s pick of Troy meant Kwame was on her team by default. She chose to waste her pick on him and ignore the 5 other women. And when it was apparent that the only person left was Omarosa, it was quite obvious Kristi wasn’t pleased.

I wouldn’t put it past Omarosa or Heidi to have set her up completely. Omarosa’s explanation of “she had me watching her bottom to make sure none of the money was lost” was a gross mis-characterization of what happened and it killed me to watch Kristi just sit there and take it. It seemed to surprise Trump as well. Of course it was probably creative editing, but Omarosa seemed to notice Trump’s surprise and it registered with her that she had just pulled a fast one.

Anyhow. I’m embarrassed that I like this show so much. ; )

Most reality shows don’t have challenges which favor a particular team.

I seem to recall the next-week preview saying something about

…an affair, and you won’t believe who it is!..

but the only thing that would shock me in that regard might be Nick and Troy or something.

I’m not sure the producers – yes, even that master manipulator Mark Burnett – realized that the women were going to be shaking their tatas quite as much as they turned out to do. I was reading the decision to mix up the teams as “oh shit, we’ve got to fix this!”

It seemed obvious to me that as soon as you put a group of almost exclusively beautiful women and pit them against a group of men in a sales oriented situation that OF COURSE the women are going to win.

Katrina says in her bio on The Apprentice site :

“A woman that claims she doesn’t use her sex appeal to sell, simply hasn’t learned how to use it to her advantage.”

On another note: Jessie is only 21!
