Appropriate music selections for the Bush inauguration

I have no idea why, but the first song that came to my head was “School’s Out For Summer”. Seems oddly fitting in a nonsensical sort of way.

Gore songs: “You cheated, you lied”
“Love on a Two-Way Street”
“The Gambler”

Bush songs: “I Committed Murder” by Macy Gray

Oh oh…my turn:
NIN-march of the pigs…hehe
Leaether strip-antiUs
Metallica- Master of Puppets

Which brings to mind the Imus parody written for David
Duke and later altered for Rush Limburgh “Friends With White
Faces”:

Cause I got friends with white faces
And a burning cross that you know chases
Those Jews away*, then we call it a day.
We’re mighty big on the master races
We just slip on sheets and pillow cases.
Yes, I got friends with white faces.

*note subtle Liberman reference here.

For Gore, WABC was playing the old Gilbert O’Sullivan tune
“Alone Again Naturally.”

Thinking of yesterday, I was cheerful, bright, and gay
Looking forward to, who wouldn’t ooo, the role I was about to play.
But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, put me into little pieces.

Just thought of another one for Bush:

“Nana nana, nana nana, hey hey hey, goodbye!”

My nominee:

The Who-- Won’t Get Fooled Again

"There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a vow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I’ll get on my knees and pray…
We don’t get fooled again!"

Maybe GWB can be convinced to re-enact the Roger Daltrey Scream.

The reasons for all of the recommended songs will be lost on George. The song needs to be very, very simple with little or no message.

  1. The ABC song (so he can sing along and show off).
  2. The theme to Sesame Street.
  3. The theme to Barney and Friends.
  4. “I’m a Big Kid Now” from that diaper commercial.

I was thinking of the same song, except with the emphasis on the line: “How did I get here?”

Also:

“Highway to Hell”

“Your Cheatin’ Heart” - Hank Williams

  1. Ain’t That A Shame - Fats Domino
  2. Jerk - Kim Stockwood
  3. Nothing From Nothing - Billy Preston
  4. Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song - B.J. Thomas
  5. Wasted Days and Wasted Nights - Freddy Fender
  6. Eve Of Destruction - Barry McGuire

And, Bush’s dedication to the NRA:

  1. I’m Your Puppet - Four Tops

The gentleman is a dope

For any of them:

“Get Back” by the Beatles. “Get back to where you once belonged.”

Or “Go to Hell” by Alice Cooper.

Or “Ride of the Valkyries” by Richard Wagner. (Ba dum da dum DUM da!)
