Wikipedia’s entry on Wife Selling in English society. That looked so interesting for about ten seconds before I remembered the date.
The article is real. Wife selling was a way that people got around the restrictive divorce laws of the 17th and 18th centuries.
This is old, but damn, that’s the best piece of April Fool’s writing I’ve ever read.

I finally figured out that today’s Wikipedia articles had misleading descriptions or were about implausible sounding things but were true articles. :o
