That Miss-Grundy-killing bastard.
Good thing the B&N young lady didn’t have a Misery-type obsession with Miss Grundy.

But does anyone care about an Al Hartley Christian Archie collection? Noooooo.
Near as I can make out, Tom Batiuk was named chief story editor, and things just kinda snowballed from there…
Correct.
What, this stuff?
Stop singing and finish your homework.
Until further notice, I’m treating this as an April Fools’ joke.
That was part of it. There also was a really good blog entry which was marred by the writer seeing some sort of conspiracy in Al Hartley’s dad being the Hartley of Taft-Hartley and a now-deleted comparison of the author’s childhood discovery of “Christian Archies” to the feeling of being molested.
Great link, thanks. My fundie Mom got that stuff for my sister and me occasionally back in the 70s.
I love that the trading post has a sign offering “filthy books”.
When did Lady Liberty get an ear tunnel for tiny airliners?
Jughead sells him some black tar heroin, and he chokes on his own vomit under the bleachers at Riverdale High.
Naw, I’m going with autoerotic asphyxiation.
In one storyline, he’s found hanging in Veronica’s closet; in the other, in Betty’s.
gmta! :d
There was a good article about that in Hogan’s Alley #16
Wow, that was like a color Chick tract. HAW HAW HAW! :smack:

Oh, god, the Christian Archie. I believe they were written/produced by the same guy who wrote this one mainstream Archie story I always remember, going on and on about how life was better and people “purer” in the early 1900’s, when “women were treated as more than equals” just because men took off their hats for them. It was Christian too, in the end, but so subtle I actually missed it until thinking about it relatively recently.
You mean this one?
That be it. Only I saw it in a digest rather than as a standalone comic.
And as I said, it was only in the last few years or so that I realized what that last panel was saying. Surprisingly subtle.
Here I was thinking that the Pep comic was what really killed Archie.
Frankly, they should go for a love triangle between Archie,Moose and Reggie and have Reggie kill Archie because he can’t have him all to himself. Reggie always did seem to spend a little too much time being concerned about what Archie was doing.
Hmm….
