there is an architect question: “Can you make this shape?” It is an odd shaped figure, and potential architects must figure out how to solve it only by cutting. I don’t know how to post the figure, sorry, I hope someone can figure out how to make it. Thanks.
Yup. I figured it out in about 3 minutes. It looks alot tougher than it really is. The biggest hurdle was wondering if it was really possible or not. Here’s the solution I came to:
!!!SPOILER BELOW!!!
Start with a vertical rectangle of paper (roughly the size of a business card) with a pencil I drew a centerline through the horizontal & vertical, which gave me four quadrants. Then I took my scissors and cut a slat in the center of the Top Right Quadrant and the Center of the Bottom Right Quadrant only up until the Vertical Centerline. That gave me a flap I could fold at a right angle to the paper. Then I cut one more slat - this time down the Horizontal pencil line and only up to the folded flap. Once you have that - all you have to do is Twist the top-half around and refold the original flap for the New orientation, and Voila! You’re on your way to becoming a Russian Architect!
!!!END SPOILER!!!
Thanks for the fun, I’ll use it to stump my unsuspecting wife!
