Wikipedia article about armchair treasure hunts. The article is rather haphazard, and reads somewhat like a sales pitch for a hunt club.
Anyway, are such (or similar) books still being published? I’ve never seen one, but admittedly I haven’t looked very hard. I’m thinking about writing one. Anyone want to help?
