You’re referring to the second black woman I linked to, right?
Oops, sorry, yeah, I meant the second black woman.
NIA LONG! (check out “Friday”)
And show your bud how well Kiesha Knight Pullman
( Cosby show ) grew up, and out, and biteable.
I feel somewhat the opposite - most white women, especially blondes, just aren’t that beautiful to me. (I am white) There are definitely a few who are quite striking, but they are rare.
I go crazy for black girls, and beautiful women of just about any race besides white though. The only thing I would note is that there is a fairly high rate of obesity among black women compared to other ethnic groups, and I do not find overweight women attractive. But the ones who are of a healthy weight… damn, they’re smokin’.
Now that episode where Rudy’s upset about going to school because she’s afraid she hasn’t properly…ah, developed, is popping into my head.
If we’re going down the 80s/90s sitcom route, too, how about Tatyana Ali from “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”? Oh, and I thought the (first) mother was pretty gorgeous, too. So was Hillary. And going back to the Cosby Show, so was pretty much every female on that show as well. (Except for that demon spawn, Olivia.)
This country, and probably society by and large, have bought the long time media hype that White is the standard for beauty as well as youth, long hair, sultry lips, bedroom eyes, etc. Black women themselves have bought this hype in large part and have tried to attain the “white beauty” (hair straightening, make up to look lighter complected, etc) instead of going with their own ethnic beauty. Only a very few progressive fashion magazines have embraced the very ethnic, and exotic, look of African and Island women, giving them the same space and layouts that have been traditionally taken up with young White girls and Mulatto women like Halle Berry.
So, no, Black women are not generally less attractive than White women. Black women who’ve bought into the White is beautiful myth make the mistake of straigtening hair that can’t be straightened instead of loving their natural hair and enhancing their own ethnic appearance tend to not be very attractive.
Interestingly, studies and surveys have shown that big Black women are far more confident in their bodies than even the average sized White woman who thinks she’s fat.
Human’s are pathetically weak when it comes to the power of suggestion and the influence of the media.
I am more attracted to Black men than any other race, am engaged to a Black man, and have many interracial couples we hang out with, the races being split among Black men/White women and White men/Black women. Two of the White men in our social circle only date Black women.
I kind of agree, I know Chinese women from Taiwan/HK who think Indian men are gross, yet in my experience Chinese women from Malaysia, UK, Singapore are very much open to dating them. There’s a large Indian population in those countries.
It kind of works the other way too, if a guy who’s of background which isn’t commonly seen in an area visits that area, he can get a lot of atention. I know a black american guy who got a lot of female company in Finland, and I had women approaching me in China.
Regarding the orignal poster, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Tastes differ everywhere. I’m British, now located in LA. I’ve noticed that a lot of guys love east-Asian women here, in UK I never heard anybody rave about them.
Most of the “black” women I find attractive are mixed. Halle Berry, for instance who would be on the Top 3 of my Worldwide List. There’s also some model that has appeared in some rap videos that is right up there. And an actress that was on the TV show, Soul Food, I think. For me I need somewhat sharp features, but I don’t go for the Germanic type, like Heidi Klum. Not that she’s not very attractive.
Michelle Obama is a very beautiful black women, and Sasha and Malia Obama are going to grow up to be gorgeous women too. The first lady is tall and statuesque, and has very striking facial features.
Black women are lucky in that they age so gracefully. To me (a white 33-year-old woman), a 60-something black woman always looks better than a 60-something white woman.
Also, it’s too bad that most of the hot black women people are posting here are very light skinned black women, or mixed black women. I wish women with darker skin like Michelle Obama would get more attention.
Yep, I think this is a major factor. Instead of having their own distinctive look, many black women attempt to mimic certain white features like straight hair, which seems pretty futile.
Also, one thing I’ve noticed the last few times I’ve been out that almost all of the black women were wearing black. It’s not a good colour choice for their skin tone, and I suspect it has something to do with self-confidence.
But to the OP; to my shame I must admit I have become consciously aware of my lack of attraction to black women. I’m ashamed because I often find them more interesting than the white women I meet.
Beautiful white women are more likely to be stuck up or believe that their beauty is “enough”, and that they don’t need a personality. Obviously all this is IMO.
I’m also ashamed because I know it has little to do with facial features. The other day I saw a woman with a fantastic body walk by, but as soon as I noticed she had dark skin, I lost interest. I have a problem
I don’t think there’s a way to ‘win’ this argument with your friend because he’s either attracted to black women or he isn’t, you can’t reason with him and logically talk him into being attracted to them. I realise the argument is more about broader measures/opinions of beauty but I think you’d be hard pressed to convince him if he doesn’t find them desirable himself.
Also, I’d avoid making any suggestions or examples such as NDP’s as they all (except for Lauren Hill and Naomi Campbell) have arguably primarily caucasian features - to the point that in black-and-white photos (IMO) if you didn’t know who they were you’d probably assume they’re caucasian (especially Halle Berry).
I do think that according to Western standards of beauty that many races fall short of what the majority would consider attractive, and I don’t necessarily think we should feel bad about it or feel the need to apologise or defend it. Nor do I think it’s rendered irrelevant or wrong because it’s racist, it just is what it is. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t people in other racial groups or societies or countries who find the aforementioned groups attractive, and really that’s all that matters. Different physical features are important to different societies. shrug
Right, even if only a small percentage of the population finds your particular ethnic group “exotic”, you’re still going to be getting more attention than you can handle when you’re the only one in town.
Worked for me.
Hear, hear. (Reflecting my personal preference, I guess; I’ve had a few black girlfriends in my checkered past, and the two I found most attractive were both dark-skinned.)
Consider Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch parlimentarian. Beautiful, smart, and brave.
I remember a Chinese-American friend back in high school. He had a real thing for blondes; found Asian girls uninteresting.
Living here in the DC Metro area, I am reminded every single day, often several times, that beautiful, attractive black women abound. If they are underappreciated, it’s a crying shame.
Miriam Makeba and Eartha Kitt
Anything else need to be said?
(Makeba may have one of the 3 or 4 best smiles ever.)
Beauty isn’t solely in the eye of the beholder. I’m sure that there is such a thing as universally ugly.
I noticed that with the Philipinos I worked with, when I worked in a hospital for the Summer. Finding out that one woman was 54 when I’d placed her at early 40s was weird.
As mentioned above, nearly all of those are basically white.
I happen to know (from a drunken conversation with his ex) that he is quite adequate thank-you-very-much. I do not recall any study that said that Irish men have smaller penises, but I have never investigated the matter.
And we do like our beer.
Best effort so far. Thats a tasty woman.
Wasn’t as hot in in Queen of the Damned though, and I haven’t heard of her since.
Remember Keshia Knight Pulliam from the Cosby show? Seen her lately?
or Cosby alumni Lisa Bonet?
I think Claire Huxtable was beautiful as well.
That’s because she died in a plane crash.
All I’m gonna say is that if you don’t think Gabrielle Union is beautiful, you’re just… not right.
