No matter how low I set the “nobody would ever say something this stupid and mean it” bar it turns out to not be low enough to be unambiguously clear.
wrt the view that “only white-looking black women are attractive”:
Plenty of the women posted up so far have “black” features. I think the problem is that certain people are waiting for a picture of an extreme, or caricature, of black features. But caricatures aren’t attractive.
Let me put it this way:
Imagine a black person who did not find white people attractive. You show the person a picture of a beautiful white women; the person might say: “Hey, but she’s not pale; her’s skin’s actually a golden colour. And she has quite full lips, like I associate with black women. And her nose and face shape are nowhere near angular enough to be a true white woman”.
Ok, so I sound like a hypocrit now, since I earlier confessed to having the same problem as the OP.
The only thing I can say is that at some level, black women have become “not my type”. All the pictures that have been posted on this thread look beautiful to me. I just can’t imagine me with those women.
It makes no sense and hopefully it’s something I’ll work out eventually.
I live in New York and I see black hotties everywhere I go. But, heh, if he doesn’t think Beyonce is hot, then he just doesn’t like black women. He doesn’t have to.
Halle Berry anyone?
Pam has always been a looker, and if what I’m reading is right both of her parents are black as well. Not sure if down the line there is white blood or not, but that is one beautiful woman there, that much I think most can agree.
Here are ten more of Pam, and regardless if she has her hair in a fro, straight, or semi-curled, that woman has got it. Click on to number 6.
I have a companion book to the PBS series on evolution, and one of the things it noted was that males found women most attractive that had a 60-70 hip-to-waist ratio. While there are other things, if a woman has that ratio, be her black or white, I bet that ratio will tend to get just about any male’s attention.

With an almost equal chance of ending up in the Pit.
She’s already been mentioned several times in this thread and apparently she’s not black enough.
The first two are okay, but the third, Miss Nigeria is an absolute beauty. Wow. The fourth girl is very attractive, by I don’t dig the skinhead.
While M. Obama is statuesque and carries herself very nicely, I find her beastly. As far as your last paragraph, doesn’t what you observed kinda make the larger point. I wonder if its because most on these boards are probably accustomed to beauty being associated with sharper features. Is there anyone here who hasn’t grown up in a western culture?
I always thought Kelly was the hottest girl in Destiny’s Child but regardless, you’re exactly right.
I would find her exceptionally beautiful apart from whatever is going on with her lower lip. She’s still above average in the political world.
I think the whole, “white” looking argument is silly.
Here is a picture of a beautiful woman taken by Leni Riefenstahl in Africa. Careful it shows her boobies. Not suitable for prudes at work.

First, BTW, I love your expression Bollix—I’'m pretty sure I’ve never come across it before. I may find it useful on this board.
The strongest comment hook I’ve found here is this: When Japanese tend to focus on the neck, just what the heck does *"beyond the normal” *mean?!
See, here is where the problem lies. Attractiveness is subjective, as Mangetout implies by speaking against an objective standard, as does Cider Depot. “Deciding” that a form of attraction, or the supposed excess of same, is not normal, is a subjective judgment. There are no mathematical proofs or compilations of physical data that could possibly help you meaningfully decide that general Japanese interpretation of neck beauty is beyond the pale. I mean, you may be able to show a significant statistical “jump” (I’ve been assuming all along that you are on track here, having read something about this long ago that I can’t locate.) but science can’t “disprove” that “everybody else” shows **too little **interest in the female neck, in an “abnormal” way.
And, for that matter, I, an Italian-American, pay a fair amount of attention to female necks when visible and well-proportioned. My WAG is that there are some hetero Japanese men in Japan who shrug at the general fascination with female necks, and “don’t get it.”
I’m kind of rambling here. Here’s something more to the point. You say you want to “win this” with your friend. Uh huh. My guess here is that even if he were to be impressed with the beauty of some of the women in the photos, he would be saying something like: <<Oh, sure, great looking. But she looks pretty white to me! >>
“At least two die in stormy Madagascar protests”
Whoops.

Your link-fu not doing well today.
Clearly not.
Do not want. Sorry, if anything this confirms rather than disproves the “white-looking” argument. She’s got a certain beauty to her, but I find her to otherwise unattractive.
MSWAS, I’m getting an error message on that link.
I think the idea of what is or isn’t beautiful has a lot to do with the environment you were brought up in. To a degree at least culture and environment are going to impact what someone thinks of as attractive…or not attractive. The OP, being brought up in Ireland was exposed to certain things that cued ‘attractive’ and ‘not attractive’ in his mind. I don’t think that this is necessarily racist, nor even that the statement in the OP that white women are more attractive (to the OP) than black women necessarily a racist remark. It COULD be racist…but then again it could be that to the OP who’s sexual cues were formed by his own upbringing, culture and environment as to what is or isn’t attractive, it may simply be the truth.
Personally I find black women VERY attractive…but then I was brought up in an environment where women were full figured, had dark hair and dark eyes and darker skin, outspoken and even fiery of temperament. So, this is going to have a definite impact on what I do or don’t find attractive. I find skinny women (of all races) to be fairly unattractive, by and large, though as always there are exceptions.
In the interest of full disclosure: So, of course, finding black and hispanic women who are full figured very attractive, I married a skinny white woman who’s ancestry is Irish/German. Go figure…
