Are Eli and Peyton Manning Saints fans?

The famous Manning football family is rooted in New Orleans. I’ve always wondered if pro players still maintain the same love for their home team despite playing for another, even a rival. How does that work? Do Eli and Peyton wear Drew Brees jerseys when they watch the Saints play?

Or do most pro players may more attention to their alma maters?

In their case, their father Archie is one of the most famous and beloved Saints players ever so that adds another level to it (Archie was an active quarterback for the Saints when Peyton was old enough to remember). I don’t know how they feel about the Saints now but they certainly grew up being big fans and I doubt they reversed that opinion just because they ended up playing for other teams.

I’m sure they still wish the Saints well, except for when they’re playing against them.

I’m thinking holiday meals get interesting in the Manning house.

I think the attitude of pros are much different than fans. It’s a job. Look at Peyton not only did he not go to his dads alma mater, he went their hated rival. (Eli did go to Ole Miss) It’s all about the career.

Yes, but you have to think they enjoy spectating on some level too, right…?

If Peyton were a Saints fan, he probably got over that about the time that Tracy Porter picked him off for a 74 yard TD return to wrap up that win for the Saints…

I don’t know what’s in their hearts but we are talking about people who watch dozens of hours of game film a week. I think it’s safe to assume they look at games a little different than me and you.

If it looks anything like their visit to the Sports Center studios, I’d love to be a fly on the wall for that.
