So here’s the story. I had a rough time of it last year. I went through a period where I was constantly anxious and tense, and as a result, I started grinding my teeth. Thankfully, I caught it fairly early. I was able to stop myself from grinding while I was awake and my dentist gave me a night-guard, which I wore for a couple months before I no longer needed it.
I’m giving you this information because now, around six months after I stopped grinding my teeth, there’s now a small, maybe 1-1.5mm gap between my teeth that runs the entire length of my mouth. Which seems strange to me, considering that only a few short months ago, my teeth were appropriately settled, and I was able to grind them. I can no longer grind them. From what I’ve read, an open bite isn’t something that appears quickly. And this has definitely appeared quickly.
When I close my jaw, the only contact points I can feel are my lower two wisdom teeth pressing against my top molars. My bottom wisdom teeth began erupting when I was around 17 (I’m in my mid-twenties now), and since they weren’t causing me any pain, and weren’t causing any other medical problems, I elected not to have them removed. I didn’t even notice them, really, until the past couple months. Now they’re starting to feel incredibly awkward in my mouth.
My dentist referred me to an orthodontist, and I’ll be seeing him sometime next week, but in the meantime, does anybody have any experience with this? Or know what might be causing it?
