Are the snipers gay?

I hope they are.

I think we need more gay serial killers. Also more minorities and women. As a straight white male in his 30s whom neighbors would describe as “quiet,” I’m frankly quite tired of being an automatic suspect.

If we don’t allow terrorists to wear spandex, the terrorists have already won.

If there’s a silver lining in all of this, it may be that it gets the “profilers” to shut up for a while. It’s pretty clear that their guesses are more of a hindrance than a help. The police had several encounters with these two creeps, but didn’t pay much attention because they were looking for someone like KneadtoKnow.

I agree that it’s irrelevant, but I also admit that the idea crossed my mind. Not as something that mattered, or that was of great interest–just that when they were saying that the father/stepson thing might not be accurate, my brain did a little rundown of other possible relationships, and that was one of them.

I don’t think the OP meant anything sinister, just an idle curiosity.

Uh, maybe it’s not supposed to be a joke. Maybe it’s just, well, a question. The thought crossed my mind as well. Am I all evil and insensitive now?

I was wondering the same thing this morning. Why would this topic would be off limits when we’ve specultated on so much more that is irrelevant. The fact that the guy may or may not be gay is certainly not a factor in why the killings occurred and whether guilt should be determined.

That being said, why would a man and a seventeen year old be travelling together. One theory seems to be that they have a “special relationship”. Could they merely have some sort of father-son thing going?

What were the sexual orientations of the victims? If the two suspects are gay, and the victims are straight, could we call this a hate crime? Because a straight guy sniping gay people sure would.

Sig Line!

I didn’t think they were gay, but since this guy has lost custody of all his children, I think that the younger one was the replacement for all the others. Hence, Muhammed was being Svengali-ish to Malvo.

My two bits.

Someone I know, a homophobic bigot, whom I made the mistake of telling him my class schedule, first brought it up. w/o the knowledge of my acaemic interests, would never have. So based on that, I seriously doubt it.

Incubus, the way hate-crime legislation is usually worded, yes, if someone were targeting heterosexual people because of their sexuality, it would be considered a hate-crime. It’s pretty straightforward.

What would people think if Malvo was a 17 year old girl and not related to Muhammed? Probably that they were lovers. I don’t think the question asked in the OP is all that appalling, especially since the OP’er himself is gay. I also wondered about the nature of their relationship when it was learned that they aren’t / never have been related.
