True in principle but not in practice. Take Fox, it’s raison d’etre is not to make money, that’s number 2. Rather it is to promote the political climate in which its proprietors diverse business interests will make money, or feed their egos. So it’s not a stand alone thing. The approach is holistic.
If the Palestinians went Ghandi, the Israelis would simply continue to slice off as much Palestine as they’d guzzle. Moreover, the support of the American people rests on successful PR. As is plainly evident, them don’t want no facts. And the Israelis have successful USA PR in spades.
Yet oddly enough the Palestinan Olympic kidnappings were a major PR coup. While unsavoury, it took the Palestinian cause from unknown to something world fora have been alive to ever since.
So ‘straightening up’ won’t work, because PR in the US will never go their way, no matter what. It will take what it will take.
Well here’s an example of dreadful bias, though not from the media:

Italic: I support a two-state solution and am very unhappy at the treatment of Palestinians by the state of Israel, in particular the path of the wall and the existence of West Bank settlement. Does that make me a “supporter”? (I also support the right of Israel to exist and its citizens not to be bombed in pizza parlours and on buses, and have missiles chucked at them too.) If it does make me a “supporter”, I take great exception to being stereotyped as someone who supports terrorism, which is something I abhor.

By supporter I meant the Hizbullah and others who justify terrorism in the name of the Palestinians (though often with other aims in mind). Poor choice of words on my part and I did not mean to cast aspersions at you.
I support the Palestinians too (but not their leadership). They’ve gotten a bad deal not just from Israel, but from Jordan, Egypt, and other’s. That does not excuse their tactics, nor does it look like their tactics are serving them well.
Successful public relations in an open society with a free press ultimately depends on facts that favors one’s cause.
Just as continued terrorist violence is self-defeating (especially in influencing a people who are getting an increasing taste of it themselves), blaming “PR” for one’s troubles is self-defeating. All the organizations and vast resources available to Israel’s enemies have been unable to turn “PR” to their advantage.
At some point it would be productive to stop blaming ineffectiveness in public relations on the Evil Jewish Lobby™ and examine instead whether something in one’s cause needs fixing.

Neither states particularly want them back, although Israel would be delighted to hand them over.
The best thing that the ‘Palestinians’ could have done, was to fly Israeli flags, insist on enrolling in the IDF and politely requested Israeli passports.
Demographically they would have swamped Israel
- which might not have been a problem as ‘Palestinians’ are not congenitally thick, it is just that the bright ones get out, leaving the thick ones to fester.
Did you know that the Israelis actually provided arms to Arafat, and were seriously annoyed to find them used against themselves. I was astonished to hear it, and I can’t cite what a couple of guys told me round my kitchen table.

Only WRT government censorship. But there are other forms of censorship. No media outlet in the U.S. is free to print or broadcast anything not entirely to the liking of the megachain that owns it.

But I doubt that “having five posters descend” constitutes “losing” a debate. You win a debate by presenting better points than your opponents, at least on the SDMB. If you don’t even try, then yes, you can’t win.
Actually, I thought the lies in the first paragraph made it clear that it was approving of terrorism only by Palestinians. So do most of his other posts, so maybe I have the advantage of context for the person you quoted.

Yes, the media are very bias in favour of the Zionists but then agian so are most of the worlds governments. I find this hard to believe, why? because if millions of refugees came to florida, called it their promissed land, set up camp then decided to boot everyone out and call it their own. Then… their could be a problem. However for some unkown reason doing this in Palestine is acceptable, the reason for this? Zionists in high positions.
This isn’t a conspiracy theory, this is anti semetism, no the Jews aren’t after you or your land and the Jewish people are just as good a people as any others. However it is zionists who are in positions of power, whether they be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or rastefarian. And this is no big secret.
Now it’s the media who are controlled by pro- zionist governments or by pro- zionists themselves who throw out propaganda that hails freedom fighters like those of Hezbollah as terrorists when their operations are strictly military against military targets (as was the kidnapping of the isreali soldiers). Wheras Isreal blows up hundreds of civilians and is hailed a hero by the media. We cry for each and every Isreali soldier but never for the children of Palestine or Lebanon.
Why? Because whether we know it or not (and all of us here seem to me like very intelligent people) have been made by the media to be unable to tell the difference between the real terrorists like Al- Qaeda and those fighting for what is rightfully theirs. As well as forcing us to believe that the zionist state is a reasonable solution for the Jews after Hitlers evil acts.
Open your eyes people this isn’t prophetic, it isn’t the coming of time speech it’s just calling for all you intelligent people to think freely and open thier mind to the possibility that their media and thier nations governments (not their people) are backing the wrong side.
