Reading about the latest suicide bombing in Iraq, I wondered if there were any circumstances in which I would consider the same. I think probably not. On the other hand, I wonder if my country being invaded might change my opinions. What do you all think?
Possibly, but I wouldn’t consider blowing up non-combatants.
Hmmm…if:
1: America had been invaded.
2: The occupying force were of a particularly brutal nature, and regularly slaughtered innocents.
3: The entire occupation depended on the leadership of one man (or possibly a very small group).
4: My actions would take him/them out, thereby reversing the course of war.
If we can get all those ducks in a row, then yeah, I’ll slip on the C-4 sweater.

Come to think of it… know anybody who’s hiring. Nerves of steel I have. 
No. Not just because of the widespread loss of innocent life, though that’s a major reason, but also because I’m not exactly certain it really has much point for the cause at hand. If another country was absolutely determined to see through an occupation, I do not believe that random terrorist attacks do much good at all. I feel that acts of guerrilla warfare have a better chance of weakening the enemy to the point where, perhaps, a putsch could knock down the infrastructure and command. As well, acts of targeted sabotage and destruction can be just as successful at turning potentially sympathetic citizens into active allies.
Well, if the only way to destroy the alien mothership is a suicide run, since I’m out of missiles…
Other than that, I can see no reason to sacrifice myself to any cause.
I think being a suicide bomber is a bit of a cultural thing, please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. If you have the technology to make a bomb then you are certainly smart enough to leave said bomb somewhere inconspicuous and then just walk away.
