Are there any current Dance shows for teens?

I’m puzzled why there doesn’t seem to be any modern teen dance shows.

I grew up watching American Bandstand every Saturday. Then in college there was Soul Train and Solid Gold. I learned all my club dance moves from those shows.

Then in the 90’s In Living Color had the Fly Girls.

Do teens and college kids have any dance shows? Where do they learn the current dances?

How can a show featuring current music and dance ever lose it’s core audience? Teens will always love music. Seems odd all the great dance shows are gone.

The closest I ever came to dance shows was begging my sisters to please watch anything else but Dance Party USA.

I wonder if this is something that the modern environment of online videos would tend to kill.

I never watched Dance Party USA regularly. I do vaguely remember it.

I’m surprised an updated version of American Bandstand hasn’t come out. It was a great idea to bring real high school teens in to dance. A lot of hit singles made their debut on Bandstand. The host played several new singles each week and the kids danced to them & predicted which would be hits.

They either try to pick up the moves they see in Gaga/Britney videos or, frankly, there’s not a lot of skill involved in booty popping. I rarely see other dance moves. Just squat down, like you’re taking an invisible shit, pop your booty back and forth for the duration of the song. If you can take the thigh burning of a 5-minute Gaga remix. I don’t see much else out in the clubs.

FTR: I actually started taking dance lessons last year in a futile attempt to update my club moves. While I did learn some new skills, when I actually went dancing a few times with the girls, I was sorely disappointed to see that all anyone does is the invisible shit booty pop. For some reason, the boys go crazy over this. I fail to see why, but then again, I’m too old for this shit anyway.

Well, there is So You Think You Can Dance, and America’s Best Dance Crew…
