Are there any denominations of Islam that are non-Koranic literalists?

Last week, we had a drash (sort of like a sermon) at our Conservative synagogue about how the story of Noah in the Torah couldn’t possibly be literally true. Part of the point of this drash was that we believe the Torah is a human document- it was inspired by God, but wasn’t dictated word-for-word to Moses (or anyone else) by God.

There was a recent article on Slashdot about the Catholic Church rejecting Biblical literalism, specifically referring to young-earth creationism.

I know there are denominations of Protestantism that reject the idea that the Bible was dictated word-for-word by God, and say it shouldn’t be taken literally. An example would be the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

But I haven’t heard of any denominations of Islam that don’t believe that the Koran was dictated word-for-word by Allah to Mohammed. Are there any denominations of Islam that believe that the Koran is a document written by humans, and shouldn’t be taken to be literally true and infallible?

Sure there are. In fact, our own SDMB Angua started her Ask the Shi’a Nizari Ismaili Muslim Woman thread a few months ago to discuss just such a group.

As far as I can tell, many modern Muslims aren’t in fact Qur’anic literalists. But we’ll need one of our local experts like Tamerlane to explain what the specific doctrinal differences are on the subject between Muslim sects.
