Are there Christian sects that cast out Paul's teachings?

Not exactly on point, but Thomas Jefferson assembled the so-called “Jefferson Bible,” comprising only the teachings of Jesus.

Around half my life ago I corresponded online with a fellow who claimed to be a priest of an Assyrian denomination. He said the letters of Saul / Paul were taken as a unit, not as discrete “books”, and were considered non-canonical, on about the same level as writings of later church fathers. Thus I conclude that modern Xians follow Saul / Paul, the torturer and death-squad leader, not the biblical Jesus. I don’t trust torturers. YMMV.

RioRico, the first half of your post, that there’s an Assyrian denomination that considers Paul’s letters non-canonical, is exactly on topic for this thread (though it’d be helpful to know which denomination). The second half, that Paul is a torturer and death-squad leader and hence Christians are not to be trusted, is exactly not on topic, for this thread or for any other in GQ. Since you have a history of not understanding the boundaries of GQ, perhaps another Warning will help you remember.
