I have an RCA XL100 TV that, despite having been manufactured in 1998, does not appear to have AV jacks. My DVD has only AV outputs. Is there a simple adapter for AV and coax?
It depends on how you define “simple” since it’s not just a connector adapter. The thing you are looking for is called an “RF Modulator”. Radio Shack used to sell them. Not sure if they still do. You might also try Walmart in their electronics section.
OK. Thanks. Looks like the tool for the job.
I’ve seen them at Walmart but they cost around $30. It wouldn’t be a lot more to get a VCR with such capabilities.
True, but thanks to macrovision copy protection the DVD player’s signal will be unwatchable through the VCR.
RF modulators do not produce very good picture quality, either. I would suggest the OP look for a used TV with AV inputs at a garage sale, craigslist, want ad, etc. It comes in handy to have the inputs for other reasons too (e.g., during the holidays when folks have video/digital cameras, video games, etc.)
